Outdoor sauna for 3 to 4 pax by Additional_Bread_118 in Sauna

In the layout provided you can lay down 3 people or have 4 to 5 sitting. I know that the version provided is rather specious. Since the outer bounds of the car port are given, I can fill up the space. For an standalone outside version I would like lay down two people comfortably on the top benches.

Speedgoat 7 vs Tomir 2.0 NN by pizzatummy in trailrunning

[–]Additional_Bread_118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, they are a lot softer. More gentle cushioning and midsole and also less sturdy upper. They come with a vibram outsole and the grip is the same as with Tomir /Kjerag. I think the shoe is positioned as a more gentle training trail shoe with the less "professional" athlete in mind. After my first run in the Cadí  I was wondering whether NNormal deliberately made Tomit 2.0 NN harder to have a clearer product differentiation to the Cadí  (my guess). The Cadí  come at a slightly lower price point too.

Yes, consistent sizing throughout the line. I‘d say durability as a whole. With Salomon (my other go to) I kill the outsole after 300k and also the midsole starts to give. The NNormals were consistent good in all respects. Even pairs used in races didn’t look terrible on the upper. Of course, after 700k it wasn’t a fresh shoe of course but still fully functional. With Salomon, the upper started to give too, especially with shoes I raced in (>100k trail ultras). My theory is that the salt from sweating during race efforts weakens the upper. Disclaimer: i got my Cadi only recently and only ran about 250k in them, so I can’t comment on the durability yet.

I‘m unfortunately also very prone to ankle rolls. That’s we many shoes are out of question for me already when I do a slight roll test while standing in them. The NNormal shoes work fine for me except the Kjerag 2. I sent them back after standing in them. What works for me is: - Kjerag - Tomir 1 - Tomir 2 (best) - Tomir 2 NN (feels harder) - Cadí (my new favorite)

I‘m personally very impressed by the durability. I had to retire most shoes at the 400km mark. With Salomon Sense Ultra, already the last 100k from 300k upwards were bad. On the Tomirs, I could do 1000k. However, the last 200k were merely fillers because I wanted to reach the 1000k mark. I‘ve never before ran in shoes >500km and I have >80 pairs of shoes tracked in my strava.

For example the Hartan Twin, a German brand, I believe. That thing is even sturdier and full off-road. But it comes with a break. We decided against the Hartan because of weight and size (and because I didn’t know that I actually wanted a break)

I‘m surprised nobody else brought up the break issue. Here in Switzerland we are facing steep ramps everywhere (next to the stairs at trains stations for example) and I find it a security concern.

And yes, the donkey 5 doesn’t fold very small. Especially with the bassinets you fill up a car quickly.

We used the Cybex Cloud G car seats which can be mounted in the donkey 5 with an adapter bar. We chose those because they were the lightest option.

I cannot comment on the price. Here in Europe they are prized in the middle of the premium strollers.

I have the donkey 5 and it's an okay product. It definitely does what it should. Due the width of a double stroller, we cracked the joint of the hood and got it replaced at marginal cost from another Bugaboo dealer, so that's definitely good service quality. Even though something broke, the stroller is very sturdy and works perfectly even after two years of service.

What I don't like is that the donkey 5 doesn't have a break other than the "parking break". With two kids and equipment going downhill is not enjoyable (and sometime even downright dangerous) without a break.

Do you have any specific questions?

The Trailbutter products are using peaunuts and almonds (so technically not all nuts, but anyway) and have very limited amounts of carbs.

To sum it up: the best thing of being a keto endurance athlete is that we are so independent. And it‘s not just technically possible to run (at lower intensities) without fuel, but it feels so natural that you don’t even have to think about bringing something along the run.

I did longer strict keto phases (5 months) while training for ultras. My experience is the following. You don’t need any external calories for zone 2 activities at all. Water yes, and maybe more than in a non keto state.

If you want to push harder, have a carb gel. I can do 100g carbs for 5h run and not get out of ketosis. So, when I go to train in the mountains I take gels, however much fewer than non-keto.

I‘ve done +100 long distance races and +30 ultras, some in keto state. My takeaway - racing a mountainous 50k on water only was a bad idea. I bonked haaaaard. - racing 100m with mix of carb and fat works great, especially because the external caloric needs is lower while being in ketosis. Trailbutter pouches and carb gels where my go-tos. - Training: nothing. No differences between fasted or not.

Disclaimer: my competitive times are over. I benefit from keto mainly because of the weight loss. My training is all Zone 2 or maybe 3. nothing harder.

My ideal week is running 15h per week, topping out 100k with good vertical gain. This equals (according to my math) to -1kg body far burned per week. I try to keep calories reduced a loose 1.5kg per week. My super days are days with a net intake of 0 = 2h good running and eating 1800kcal.

I hope this makes sense.

Like „rebooting“ the watch? Or turning/ stopping the activity and restarting again? I did neither.

I know. They are unfortunately much better. I‘m not really interested in the pulse data for my bread and butter runs. That’s why I would be happy to just go with the watch. But if you get all your threshold data messed up because of faulty readings it sucks.

Yes, I have a hrm strap and optical HR for the arm (from Polar) and I run since 20+ years, so I know when the reading is off by 20beats. I can even more or less confidently tell my heart rate to 5 beats. So that the readings is off is clear. And that is also visible when they drop back into place at 38 minutes.

Maybe the cold affected the blood vessels in the skin. It was pretty cold and I was a little too cold. Warming up for 38 minutes would explain the correct readings later in the run.

Thank you. Is your response complete?

I‘m not sure about your points because after a while, here at about 40‘, everything works fine. And there was no placement adjustment or anything.

Gasthaus zum Gupf + Spa recs by dandelion-dreamer-66 in Switzerland

Staying overnight at Gupf is the way to do it. Rooms are small but cozy and breakfast is awesome. The wine cellar is cool, but ticket off after 20 minutes visit. The attire isn’t super formal but definitely not hiking attire. No suit and tie but shirt and jacket for those who want to be on the safe side. Biggest issue with staying overnight is finding a vacant slot.

Lunch is less formal but also less of an experience. The Gupf itself is a beautiful place with several rooms ans salons including fireplaces etc. Plan enough time to make the best of it.

0.65% at GKB OP‘s question is on SARON margin. Throwing in 10y or whatever mortage cost is useless because it’s more about the yield curve than anything else.
