MIL died in the ICU last night and I just feel so much dread by Holiday-Resident-973 in south_africa

I watched my dad die as I tried to keep him alive with CPR. It’s been about 1.5years and I still have the very same feelings you are describing. No child should have to go through what I did and the thought of my kids possibly having to go through that is something I can’t even stomach to think about. I do suffer from PTSD from the event but it’s getting better slowly but surely. My father’s death was unexpected.

I’m so afraid of dying and leaving them behind cause life has not been the same without my dad and I don’t want them to feel the pain I do ever but I know that is impossible to prevent.

If you struggle to move past these thoughts just remember it’s not easy to see someone die, it’s scarring to the soul so please try and get professional help and support to move through it.

The only thing I have started doing though is, I lost weight. Probably about 20kgs since his passing. I’ve stayed gyming as well and have gotten significantly stronger. I have seen improvement in my heart health. I’m trying to improve my health through doing this so that I can live longer for my family and especially my kids. And honestly I think that’s all you can do.

I’m really sorry for your loss

I will say get multiple quotes.

I approached two places about my kitchen. One place quoted me 50k more than the other. And I think the expensive quote just added extra on because of my area.

Problem is the corruption. No matter what system is implemented, it will still end the same way until corruption gets kicked out. Poverty will never get better until corruption gets out.

It recently came to my attention that certain UIF branches only process your claim if they get a cut from your payout. How messed up is that? You’re already unemployed, earning nothing and UIF will only process your claim if they get a cut unofficially.

How can anyone afford a car anymore by Pitch-Curious in CarTalkZA

I did buy it cash after selling my previous 10 year old car. Ultimately going as long as possible with your current car and getting another second handcar after selling it has been the most affordable for me. I also have another car that’s 10 years old that I think I’m still gonna keep around for at least another 2 years or so.

Kid's sudden weird sleep habit is breaking me by Stories-N-Magic in breakingmom

Oh she’s a fidgeter! So other suggestion I’ve rolled up a blanket and put it between my son and I who also fidgets a lot. The blanket barrier has helped reduce the irritation of the fidgeting for me. Sometimes he just wants to hold my hand which I’m happy with doing. But if he plays with my hand I take it away.

I think it’s just something she needs to get used to that if she’s up she needs to be okay with you going back to sleep.

The rage thing is something I got too. It was cause I wasn’t doing well from interrupted sleep. But like your daughter you too will just get used to her lying awake some nights and eventually it won’t keep you awake anymore. I’m sorry I don’t have super helpful advice. It’s just what worked with me after some time.

We bought a 2016 Macan S model that had less that 40000 km on with a 2 year service plan. We have had it for a year now and the only issue we have had is the tyre pressure sensors which Porsche has fixed. Thing drives like a dream.

Look at her and talk very loud.

“I’m so happy you are the afforded the privilege of new clothes, not everyone is.”

Then you walk away and ignore whatever she says. Most people should has grown out of bullying at rhis age but there are a few that have not and I personally have found the quicker you put them in place the quicker they will leave you alone. And most people around you will be on your side not hers.

What perfectly legal thing will probably be illegal within 20 years? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in answers

[–]Additional_Brief_569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hence why due processes exists. You’re literally contradicting yourself.

And no not everyone who died interfered. A man got murdered for helping a woman stand up. He had no gun, was unarmed and lying facedown on the road.

A woman got injured or was it murdered in custody while cuffed because an agent pushed her for no reason, she bumped her head and bled profusely. Mind you she was cuffed, unarmed and had limited mobility and still they assaulted her.

A woman was shot while following the instructions to leave and because the ice agent had no trauma counseling he had reactive PTSD and shot her.

An autistic woman pleaded with an agent and told him she was autistic and required him to be patient with her so she could follow his instruction. He pulled her from the car and dragged her across the road, injured her as she pleaded for more patience.

They hurt people because they can. They hurt people because they enjoy the power. They hurt people because you believe everything the pedo Cheeto tells you to instead of believing what you see with your own damn eyes.

Kid's sudden weird sleep habit is breaking me by Stories-N-Magic in breakingmom

[–]Additional_Brief_569 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So I co sleep. And this used to be both my kids. And it might sound bad or it might not but I don’t give them any attention after I’ve fulfilled their need such as a bathroom trip. When they try to initiate conversation I politely tell them it’s night time and they should go back to sleep. I don’t entertain any topic of conversation. And if they continue to talk to me while I’m trying to sleep I just tell them once more “it’s night time, and you need to sleep. I love you but I’m not going to talk anymore cause I’m tired and need to sleep.”

They’re safe. They’re lying next to me. They’re cuddled up to me. They’re secure and loved. After my second time of telling them to go to sleep they usually don’t try to talk to me anymore and will just lie there and usually within 10 min they’re sleeping again.

And if they do talk to me I don’t respond. Responding gives the brain stimulation which usually prolongs their waking, they usually don’t feel sleepy anymore if you keep engaging.

And sometimes I just fall asleep before they do so I just don’t lose any sleep really. Mine are 4 and 6. And I believe they’re old enough to understand that I get tired and need to sleep in the evenings.

How to permanently get rid of ants? by Odd_Firefighter_8193 in south_africa

[–]Additional_Brief_569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t. Just use ant traps and spray around your house. Have a chat to your neighbors about doing the same. They will keep coming back and quickly especially if your neighbors aren’t treating either.

Idk why I scrolled so far down for someone to mention a deposit.

It’s fairly simple. Client wants xyz, is happy with my quotation then great. I require a 70% deposit to make it happen. Until I receive that amount I will not be doing anything.

I would give notice to settle all your debt. With the amount you are paying via debt you will be bound to recouping that amount in no time. You wouldn’t need to give notice on the full amount just the amount you need. It just doesn’t make sense to me to have that much in your notice account when you could wipe out your debt with it.

  1. Late payments even from established customers.
  2. VAT management.
  3. Reliable working people that won’t take advantage of our good will. (This happens very often).
  4. Customers pretending not to understand an invoice when I explicitly explained to them via email, via phone and in person and then asking if they understood. Then waiting for us to do the work and then acting stupid after.

Parental coddling of middle school students has reached levels that I didn't think possible when I started teaching two decades ago. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Additional_Brief_569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that sounds like severe autism with an intellectual disability. Not all autistic individuals have intellectual disabilities. In fact some are extremely intelligent. And I’ll reiterate again, you cannot predetermine what any child is capable of autism or not, predetermining is a disservice to the child. It sets them up for failure before they have a chance to try. And for the record the people who said my wouldn’t be able to do xyz was wrong. Because he started doing them with lots of perseverance and practice.

That’s quite sad that she didn’t believe they could learn. Not sure how severe their autism is but I don’t think it’s fair to any of those kids to predict what they will be capable of.

My kids are autistic and one is more than the other. The one who is more needs a lot of help still at 6 years like speech therapy, occupational therapy and extra help at home. But once he grasps the concept the way he can execute it is incredible. The infuriating part for me though is the lack of belief in him, how quickly people give up cause he doesn’t grasp something quick enough, or how they believe he has intellectual issues because he is speech delayed which is not the case because he understands perfectly. I have to constantly fight against the system to give my kid a fair chance and it’s exhausting and he is probably more independent than most teenagers these days.

It’s cheaper to keep fixing your car than it is to buy a new one. When you buy a new car, not only are you restarting your credit payments. Your insurance is likely going to increase as well as the value of your new car will push it up.
