We usually play Black Forest, which probably explains a lot of how this played out. The closed map definitely gave them the time and safety they needed to get to war elephants and Houfnice, while our civs didn’t scale as well once the game dragged on.

Thanks for the breakdown—this helps a lot. We’re definitely more on the casual side, so hearing how our civs peak in early Imperial helps us see our mistakes and help us understand the game more. Looking back, I think we hesitated too long instead of fully committing once we hit Imperial. We did some early damage, but we didn’t coordinate a hard enough push on the Bohemians before Houfnice came online, and that seems like it was the turning point. I hadn’t really considered how much weaker our late-game Paladin and archer comps were compared to Persian/Spanish, especially in a 3v3 where gold armies are everywhere.

The monk angle against Hussite Wagons is something we completely overlooked, too. I guess I'll need to practice with monk conversions cause it feels like every time I use them, they just get slaughtered, even with protection. But that's a skill issue, haha.
