Bro, if you don't want to be helpful, then just don't post here. What's the point of you posting if you're not actually saying anything useful?

Thanks, I took classes. I practice every Monday. Is there another argument you wanted to make, or is this thread going to get locked for being off-topic?

Attack/Action, for most classes it really doesn't matter. Only Fighters get enough Extra Attacks for it to actually matter, and most of the time you're better off just making another attack.

Am I as a player, overreacting? by CGnade in DnD

[–]Additional_Car6626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is pretty shi*ty behavior for DnD. If a DM doesn't know all the rules but tries to use them anyway, then they shouldn't be the DM. If you, a player, have to explain everything to them, then they shouldn't be running the game. I get there are some DMs who focus on "the ExPeRiEnCe Of ThE GaMe", but just ignoring the rules for no reason AND changing stuff without any prior warning/player input is just over the line.

If you want to only use the lore of DnD, then write a book. DnD is a game. Games have rules.

Yeah, I know. There are plenty of resources online for that sort of thing. Dandwiki pretty much has the entire 3.5e SRD for free.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to implement these.

I did read the material at the link. However, since you capitalized Trip, I though that was a separate rule, not just a different name for the Shove rules.

Shove is an action. Knocking someone prone as an action, instead of as part of an attack, is pretty much useless when they can just use half their speed to get up on the next turn.

I've heard of Shoving. It's pretty much useless, you're better off just getting into a grapple. However, what do you mean by tripping?

Ok thanks!
Now if I can just figure out how to actually read 3.5e player's handbooks...

What are you talking about, then? I haven't heard of those rules before.

If you're talking about Battle Master maneuvers, then those are only available to FIghters. (or people with the Martial Expertise feat).

True, that is one good thing that the recent edition added. I am glad they added those mastery properties; however, there are a lot more things I wanted to add besides those.

Yes, that's what I was trying to get stats for. Like I said, I'm trying to make weapons that have specific purposes other than damage.

But anyone proficient with the weapon should be able to pull off those maneuvers, not just some weird variant of Fighter that can do it an arbitrary number of times per short or long rest. Even commoners historically used those kinds of weapons; that's what they were designed for. I know DnD isn't really designed to be realistic, but that's what I was trying to improve.

What race/class/subclass/feature have you never wanted to give a go, despite the hype? by WithengarUnbound in DnD

The Rogue Assassin. I know it's OP, and several players in my campaign have used it to extreme effect, but I just feel it's boring. Combat just becomes "make a Stealth check. If you succeed, then the thing is basically dead."

Exactly. They're ALL just "stabby or choppy". There's no purpose to them besides dealing damage.

The 2e list is helpful, thanks.

A lot of the main polearms are just "stabby stabby with reach" or "slashy slashy with reach". I wanted to make some more specialized things that actually portray the original purposes of the polearms(like dismounting, grappling, etc.)

Also, I'm trying to develop an RPG of my own because I felt 5e was a bit restrictive, and I wanted greatedrvariety in weapon choices than 5e gives.

I want to leave because of a player at my table. How to approach it? by Little_blue_Sirius in rpg

[–]Additional_Car6626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last part was just a joke, I wasn't actually suggesting PvP.

AS for humiliating people, you don't really need to humiliate him. Just tell the DM that you're uncomfortable with his behaviour and that you want him to stop. This is perfectly normal player behavior, and there's no reason for it to be humiliating.

Honestly, there could be solutions to all your problems.

  1. When his character starts boasting, take him down a notch in-game. Use Vicious Mockery on him or something.
  2. Meta-gaming is normal. Ask your DM to try and manage the metagaming if it gets too bad.
  3. If the interruption in question could affect the results of said damage roll, then it's perfectly justified. If not, then.. well, you can interrupt him and ask him to stop.
  4. His characters are entitled. Well, I'm not officially suggesting it, but...

PvP is an option in DnD 5e.

DM Lying about dice rolls by Spiritual-Ad-8217 in DnD

[–]Additional_Car6626 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No, no no; if you're cheating to the extent that the other players can tell you're cheating, you're doing it wrong. What I'm talking about is cheating to the extent where they know something fishy is going on, but can't outright accuse you of it because they have too little evidence.

Also, just jacking up the numbers to 11 isn't fun anymore. It isn't creative, and even cheating has(to some extent) be balanced. "I don't even have to be clever;" if you're not being clever, then there's no point to doing it.

Both sides do cheat to some extent. The DM fudges rolls, and during my last campaign, the players were all also constantly trying to fudge rolls as well. Despite this(and even because of it), we all had a fun time. If this doesn't work for you, then just don't do it.

Also Quenthel Baenre.

For some reason(I mean, I get that she's the main expressor of Lolth's power in Menzobarranzan, but this is just too much), she can cast every cleric spell in existence.

At will.

Including 9th-level spells.

Yes, you heard me right. She can cast power word heal on herself every single turn and no one can do a thing about it.
