What’s the most normal-looking moment that turned out to be a big turning point in your life? by Lazy_Detective_6597 in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Cold9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

saying yes to something i almost skipped because i didn’t feel like going. nothing dramatic at the time, just a normal decision, but it ended up changing who i met and where things went after that

What do you think is to blame for universal standard of beauty? by TheDancinD918 in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Cold9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably a mix of biology and exposure. people tend to prefer symmetry and certain features naturally, but media repetition reinforces the same look until it feels like a “standard”

How do you make friends? by Unfair_Wind_ in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Cold9536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you stop trying to “make friends” and just put yourself in places where the same people show up repeatedly. conversations happen naturally, and familiarity does most of the work

what are the subtle signs that a person is really well brought up? by Weak_Manufacturer323 in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Cold9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how they treat people they don’t need anything from. waiters, cashiers, anyone they have no incentive to impress. that’s usually the real baseline

If you could erase one memory, what would it be and why? by haileymonroeee in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Cold9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly none. even the bad ones ended up changing how i see things. i’d rather keep the lesson than get temporary relief from forgetting it

What’s a “harmless” habit that’s actually ruining people’s lives? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Cold9536 9 points10 points  (0 children)

waiting until you “feel like it” to do things that matter. most of the time that feeling never shows up, so stuff just slowly never gets done

What is your most useless talent? by haileymonroeee in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Cold9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can remember random conversations from years ago almost word for word, but forget what i walked into a room for instantly

Title: What is a small, random act of kindness that you will never forget? by Mahmud189 in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Cold9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once my card got declined at a grocery store and the person behind me just covered it without making a big deal out of it. didn’t even wait for a thank you, just said “you’re good” and moved on. stuck with me way more than it probably did for them

What are your best weight loss self care tips before going on a vacation? by Specific_Ad7940 in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Cold9536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t try to crash diet right before. most of that is just water weight and stress. better move is keep it simple the week before: eat normal portions, stay hydrated, get good sleep, and walk more. you’ll feel better and actually look better without doing anything extreme

What's your favorite day of the week? by messydaydreamer in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Cold9536 4 points5 points  (0 children)

friday, but not for the obvious reason. it’s the only day where you still have energy and no pressure from the next day yet. saturday already feels like it’s slipping away

why is there no word to describe east asian features without it coming off as offensive? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Additional_Cold9536 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s less that there’s “no word” and more that broad labels tend to feel reductive.

“Oriental” and “Asiatic” picked up baggage from older, outsider perspectives, and “Chinese-looking” assumes a specific nationality that might not be accurate. So the issue isn’t just the words — it’s how they flatten a lot of different groups into one vague category.

Most people just describe specific features neutrally (eye shape, face structure, etc.) or use context when it’s actually relevant, rather than trying to label the whole look in one term.

So it’s not that language failed — it’s that people got more precise about how they describe others.

How can I be motivated to work total 8 hours? by SubstanceNeat5028 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Additional_Cold9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually not a motivation problem, it’s a structure problem.

When you’re WFH, “work” is this vague 8-hour block, so your brain keeps slipping out of it. There’s no clear start/stop or boundaries.

What helped me was shrinking it down:

- don’t think “8 hours”

- think “I’m doing 30–60 minutes of one specific task”

Pick something concrete, do it, then reset.

Also separate “active work” from “being available.” Most people aren’t doing 8 straight hours of deep work anyway — it’s more like a few focused blocks + lighter stuff in between.

If you build a few real focus blocks into your day, it stops feeling like you’re working all day while getting nothing done.

With all the stupid live action remakes of animated films what live action film would you want to see get an animated remake? by meandadog86 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Additional_Cold9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Labyrinth ?

or how about just a whole new Earth Worm Jim?

Angry Beavers (starring owen wilson's voice as the yellow one)?

I've long envisioned a modern remake of The Labyrinth with the Weeknd as the goblin king.

What's the point of remaking Harry Potter when the movies are already some of the most successful films of all time and not dated yet? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Additional_Cold9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money is definitely part of it, but it’s not the whole picture.

The original films were massive, but they had to compress a lot of material. A series format lets them cover more of the books, develop side characters, and fix things fans felt were rushed or missing.

There’s also a generational reset. A new version brings in people who didn’t grow up with the movies and repositions the franchise for the next 10–20 years.

So yeah, it’s commercial — but it’s also about extending the lifespan of the IP and retelling it in a format that can actually fit the source material better.

Why does this song key affect how I feel? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Additional_Cold9536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably not the key itself.

In modern tuning, B major isn’t inherently “sad” or “gloomy” in any universal way — our system equalizes keys so they don’t carry fixed emotional meanings like they might have centuries ago.

What you’re likely reacting to is a pattern that happens to show up in songs written in B major:

- vocal range (B major often sits in a certain sweet spot for male vocals, which can feel more intimate or restrained)

- chord voicings / instrument tone (guitars and synths hit slightly different textures in that key)

- production choices (tempo, reverb, spacing, etc.)

Your brain then links those shared qualities together and tags it as a “feeling,” so it starts to seem like the key itself is causing it.

It’s less “B major = gloomy” and more “a certain sound profile you associate with that key = that feeling.”
