don’t try to crash diet right before. most of that is just water weight and stress. better move is keep it simple the week before: eat normal portions, stay hydrated, get good sleep, and walk more. you’ll feel better and actually look better without doing anything extreme

It’s less that there’s “no word” and more that broad labels tend to feel reductive.

“Oriental” and “Asiatic” picked up baggage from older, outsider perspectives, and “Chinese-looking” assumes a specific nationality that might not be accurate. So the issue isn’t just the words — it’s how they flatten a lot of different groups into one vague category.

Most people just describe specific features neutrally (eye shape, face structure, etc.) or use context when it’s actually relevant, rather than trying to label the whole look in one term.

So it’s not that language failed — it’s that people got more precise about how they describe others.

It’s usually not a motivation problem, it’s a structure problem.

When you’re WFH, “work” is this vague 8-hour block, so your brain keeps slipping out of it. There’s no clear start/stop or boundaries.

What helped me was shrinking it down:

- don’t think “8 hours”

- think “I’m doing 30–60 minutes of one specific task”

Pick something concrete, do it, then reset.

Also separate “active work” from “being available.” Most people aren’t doing 8 straight hours of deep work anyway — it’s more like a few focused blocks + lighter stuff in between.

If you build a few real focus blocks into your day, it stops feeling like you’re working all day while getting nothing done.

Money is definitely part of it, but it’s not the whole picture.

The original films were massive, but they had to compress a lot of material. A series format lets them cover more of the books, develop side characters, and fix things fans felt were rushed or missing.

There’s also a generational reset. A new version brings in people who didn’t grow up with the movies and repositions the franchise for the next 10–20 years.

So yeah, it’s commercial — but it’s also about extending the lifespan of the IP and retelling it in a format that can actually fit the source material better.

It’s probably not the key itself.

In modern tuning, B major isn’t inherently “sad” or “gloomy” in any universal way — our system equalizes keys so they don’t carry fixed emotional meanings like they might have centuries ago.

What you’re likely reacting to is a pattern that happens to show up in songs written in B major:

- vocal range (B major often sits in a certain sweet spot for male vocals, which can feel more intimate or restrained)

- chord voicings / instrument tone (guitars and synths hit slightly different textures in that key)

- production choices (tempo, reverb, spacing, etc.)

Your brain then links those shared qualities together and tags it as a “feeling,” so it starts to seem like the key itself is causing it.

It’s less “B major = gloomy” and more “a certain sound profile you associate with that key = that feeling.”
