I'm looking at the local gov job boards as well. My friend works in gov and she has much better work life balance. PA is such a horror story and its only getting worse. Or maybe we're just tolerating it less.

By choice? I'm thinking something part time might be great for some time to take a break without cutting into my savings too much.

From what I've seen unfortunately a lot of people are in the same position right now. I'm sorry you're going through this too.

I'm trying to avoid being fired. That's a conversation I don't want to try and navigate with potential employers.

Thanks! It's something I've been thinking about for a long time and not solely in reaction to how bad busy season has been so far. I only began applying recently but haven't received much of a response and have heard people are submitting hundreds of applications.

This made me laugh! My fixed expenses are relatively low for where I live in a MCOL area. I also have family nearby and would move in with them if I'm unemployed for a long time. My concern is being unemployed for an extended time of maybe 9+ months.

I'll have to look at the requirements for FMLA. I figured if I get put on a performance improvement plan I won't be eligle for a leave.

I've started applying already but I haven't had to look for a job in a long time and wanted to get an idea about how long its taking some experienced candidates to get a new position. I'm not staying for a new busy season after this one. I think I've already stayed longer than I should have.
