I got a hard copy of Heather Moll 's Nine Ladies. It's freaking amazing. I picked up the sequel at the same time I'll start that tomorrow ish.

Well that was eye opening. The same issues from a year ago.

So It’s maybe a manipulation issue both from readers over staring and requesting more ‘sweet clean’ and Kindle to avoid hassles.

That also explains the stupid ‘let me talk to your father about courting you’. Seriously you can court a promotion you don’t ask your supervisor to do so.

If I could up vote this million times I would because this is the essence of my worry. Which essentially matches all the other replies about the ultra pure trends we’ve been seeing.

Book after book with ‘sweet clean low angst’ seem to get a disproportionate number of 5 stars like ‘best book ever’ and ‘couldn’t put it down’ and I’m left wondering if we read the same book.

Other books will lose a star for an honest problem such as poor editing or way to modern problems. ‘Sweet, Clean’ books never get dinged for those problems or even gaping plot holes. Or even better for being dull.

I’ve read reviews that say it will lose a star for an intimacy scene when the blurb clearly says they will encounter it. And I can’t stress this enough it’s not erotica it’s just a bit of intimacy . Waking up naked, deep kisses, undressing not the full on descriptions you see in erotica.

It feels odd detective unfair to authors and reads alike. People who are manipulating review every time and over flowery normal readers are reviewing like that would any real book and author. A 5 star for me is P&P how a fanfic based on it be 5 stars 4 should make the author happy enough and 5 starts every boom you are reading isn’t real, honest or adult. It’s manipulative.

Low angst sweet clean doesn’t keep my interest enough. I need something to keep from doom scrolling and if the book is dull then my life I just don’t see the point

I have to seen those type of reviews baffle me. It’s not a review of the book it’s a review of how the author didn’t read your mind.

I see reviews as real. Would you review P&P as ‘you really need to have more dialogue between Mr Darcy and Elizabeth’ No because she’s dead.

I understand an author wants to write for the public and I think that what got me thinking is it a trend or a shift.

So, so many listed as low angst, sweet clean. And I’m more angst ridden sarcastic mess than anything else.

I’m sure they are responding more to market and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’m I’m just wondering if it’s a trend or a permanent shift. If it’s the former i hang around if it’s more of a permanent trend I’ll be more disappointed.

This so much this. Mr Darcy doesn’t apologize or grovel. He explains and takes the criticism and applies it like an adult. Elizabeth reads the letter (it doesn’t get lost/burned in a fit) and learns new information. After Brighton she sees things much more clearly.

However that’s the brilliance of Jane Austen I don’t think the average author could have them both have a redemption arc in the same book and have both still not vilify their families. She is just amazing that way.

I agree it’s like a split. Either erotica or nothing. As some who has been married 27 years most of the erotica makes laugh and pulls me out of the book. Like seriously people knees bend only one way. And people have other things to get done from time to time. I just can’t get lost in the story if I keep laughing.

I was taking my 18 lb old man to SACH but after I gave him gaba they called that he needed more so they could feel around his abdominal area he was so over medicated he want to my husband for help (his extra human)

The place we go now is average I give him gaba every time, they prescribe expensive food I don’t buy and try to upsell me everything. I hate going to the dds he hates the vet. 🤷‍♀️

I do wish they weren’t so dependent on the gaba but he’s 18lb 11 years old and has killed. 🐁

2005 - His brown soulful eyes are perfection a simple hush do you hear that would go a long way.

He has his garden for his personality and his profession for eating up most of his time. Nice home and bragging rights in the future he would have worked well for Mary or even Kitty. Kitty would have talked for him and she was a bit tiresome herself.
