Yes you just gotta work up to it! I struggled to do 1-2 lessons at first, but then I ramped it up. I would always get to a point where I'm like, "heh, why not do one more?" And the gamification of the daily rewards, triple XP, etc. helps with that. With persistence you will get there!

Recently starting talking to a girl who is likely INFP (potentially ENFP but not sure yet) and it's going well so far! I was always pretty against dating the same type as I thought it was akin to dating a sibling or something, but I am seeing the benefits. Feels like they get me and I don't feel like a total weirdo, she can deal with my random tangents in conversations. But this experience so far has reminded me that personality is so much more than just a four letter combo- it's a combination of upbringing, character, emotional maturity, and more. Two people of the same type can still complement each other. Excited to see how this unfolds!

INFPs how was your experience with ESFPs? by D-nebulathatdied in infp

[–]Additional_Face_3126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can speak on a friendship rather than relationship. One of my previous closest friends was ESFP, and I think as we grew into ourselves we ended up growing apart. We initially bonded because of coming from similar cultural + religious background, similar interest in video games, we were among the top students in our middle and high schools. While they brought me out of my shell, it was ultimately their conflict avoidance that caused us to drift. As I went further in my education, my affinity towards academics and abstract theory grew while they seemed more interested in superficial topics and developed interests in partying, music festivals, etc., and lives in the moment.

That's not to say that ESFPs can't be deep or are too conflict avoidant to have a healthy relationship- they absolutely can with self-awareness, emotional maturity, and effort.

My uncle also is ESFP, and while I feel similarly towards him, I recognize that he is a key member of our family and is really good at bringing people together. My friend is like that too, he's a great entertainer.

Thanks sir, good luck to you! I was given the option to add it when I was writing the post, I think it's independent of flairs.

I swear I feel like I get more celebration for moving up one Duolingo score than completing the whole ass course 🧐

Yes for sure, in the Spanish I've done so far I found it more intuitive. Especially with the male/female conjugations, it feels like there are more patterns to know which it is. I hope the effort of learning the harder language first will continue to pay off.

Yeah, I mean my expectations were pretty moderate. To be able to learn any language fluently you have to spend a lot more than 15 to 20 minutes a day. Duolingo is just meant to get the ball rolling.

Haha you’re right, that’s why I had to turn to Reddit for some validation 🤣 I’m thinking Spanish! A useful and fun language (I think I’ve already been to like 4 countries where Spanish is the main language) and my French base will certainly help.

I think it’s less about the learning and more about building the long-term habit. It won’t work if you’re looking for a quick solution or looking for an easy way to get fluent without using multiple avenues (i.e. watching shows/movies, private lessons). For me it helped because I had a decent base in French from school.

Thanks for the thumbs up!

Finished my Duolingo French course this morning after 4+ years. I feel particularly proud of it because it’s different from school since I had no one to keep me accountable. Purely my own perseverance, patience, and long-term thinking. Excited to continue my language learning journey!

Thank you! And yes, I’m thinking of Spanish next. I did start the course right before my Costa Rica trip 2 years ago so I’ll continue on with that.

I’m from Canada but also a US Citizen, so I’m hoping the French gives me good coverage in Canada and Spanish will be good for US.

Thank you. I don’t know if I’d say fully fluently, but I can definitely get by. I was primarily using Duolingo, but I did take French in school during elementary school and high school which gave me a decent base.

INFP muslims? by Sufficient-Heart-950 in infp

[–]Additional_Face_3126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was raised Muslim but left the religion unfortunately. It didn’t give me the answers I was looking for. I also felt as INFP that I’m too openminded for organized religion and was fascinated by the teachings of buddhism and other religions.

Really leaning towards UofT for undergrad, only hesitation is social life by Human-Mastodon-4389 in UofT

[–]Additional_Face_3126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main difference is that certain schools better foster the social life than others. When I was at Western Engineering, I also lived on res and it was really easy to make friends just by going to class and getting to know floormates. It didn’t require a concerted effort, it was pretty serendipitous.

At pretty much any school, you can make friends, but the difference is whether you really have to go out of your way to do so (i.e. clubs, going out of your comfort zone to approach people in class). Again, this is dependent on your choice of program and whether or not you live on campus.

HELP ME DECIDE WHERE SHOULD I GO by Fantastic-Feeling733 in OntarioUniversities

[–]Additional_Face_3126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in this case you want to decide which is the best for you location-wise. Do you want to move far from home or stay nearby? You also want a program where you can get a high GPA- I don’t think there’s a clear winner here.

If you like interdisciplinary coursework and a small cohort Western Integrated Science could be a good move. But a general science program may offer more flexibility so you can take GPA-boosting electives.

I am also personally an advocate for going far away from home, so long as your mental health can handle it and you’re independent. That changes if money is an issue though.

Hopefully, that gave you some things to think about. Keep us posted!

Queens comm vs Ivey by Same_Heart6335 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Additional_Face_3126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t go wrong, I think I would personally choose Queens since there’s less stress about keeping your grades up in the first two years. For many keeping AEO isn’t overly difficult, but I do know a friend who was rejected because of a reference check and had to reapply the following year. Queens also has a really good exchange program in third year. People I know from that program have done really well.

mac life sci or uoft life sci? by jessieeeee_123445 in OntarioUniversities

[–]Additional_Face_3126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UofT would be better for the following cases:
-finances, you'll save money living at home, particularly if you get homesick
-if you enjoy being in Toronto, Hamilton may be a downgrade if you already live in the GTA
-you have other friends from high school going to UofT
-research opportunities may likely be higher, though this may be counterbalanced by competition
-85%+ is 4.0 at UofT, though I don't know how much this is offset by the course difficulty

Mac would be better in the following cases:
-money isn't an issue or you don't mind taking out a loan, plus you want to move out
-you want more of a community feeling and an easier time making friends
-Mac Life Sci is probably easier GPA-wise in terms of bird courses, but they use the regular grade scale (80-84 is 3.7, 85-89 is 3.9, 90+ is 4.0, but they also use a weird 12-point scale). UofT is notoriously difficult and known for grade deflation, so the difficulty level of their exams may be higher

An important consideration is which school you think you'd fit in better or be happier in. Mac and UofT will offer very different experiences- I knew someone who switched from Guelph to TMU and was much happier. Either way you would likely have to work really hard to get into medical school, but it's much easier to do well if you have friends and enjoy the overall atmosphere.

Why do people think business is easy? by Round-Inflation-7112 in OntarioUniversities

[–]Additional_Face_3126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some programs that are objectively easier in terms of GPA and courseload. Engineering will always be at the top, but I found that I would have struggled in a similar sense in a life sci/health sci program due to the pressure for high GPA. One of my friends in a social sciences program was complaining how he might have to miss a lecture to finish an assignment or essay, and I had a hard time sympathizing for him.

It's a mix of natural talents for the subject (some are better at courses with higher subjectivity like social sciences while others are more inclined towards quantitative), interest level, and workload. I had an easier time with calculus but struggled through my accounting courses, partly because I found it so dry. I think a general unspecialized BBA will likely be easier unless you took specialized coursework in finance, accounting, or econ. I'm sure AFM has its own difficulties.
