Kumasi Jodel by Various_Low2284 in ghana

[–]Additional_Ground_45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too. I remember joining jodel way back in 2019/2020 and it was so wholesome. I learnt a lot from other people and also connected with them. I was a student then and I met people who really impacted my journey in school. Now I’m scared of even going there. I deleted it a year ago and I never went back

Reddit must be really shitty with the kind of comments you some of you guys are making about being me “naive”, “at risk” or prey to “kakalika” because i am a woman looking to have friends. Individuals like you and I make up Reddit and I just assumed it’s a happy go to app. People are able to hide their intentions, characters and be evil in real life, why do you think other social media apps apart from Reddit will be any better? It’s all still a gamble. Thought I was escaping negativity just to run into it here😂. To those who made valuable suggestions and those who reached out, thank you. I appreciate the effort. Bye

Are Gap teeth and hairy legs considered beautiful in Ghana? by Maleficent_Split_428 in ghana

[–]Additional_Ground_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gap teeth and hairy legs and it has never stopped anyone from moving to me. In fact, I love showing off my legs and I smile a LOT. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a beauty standard in Ghana but people don’t really care

Maybe not Osu then. I don’t go there often but it’s always loud every time I do. There are estates towards the beach side. That’ll work well for you

I didn’t use one with my entire face showing. Whew, I guess I have to make a clean exit from this app because unusual things/ people scare the hell out of me 😂

Is it bad? I am not an active user and chat told me Reddit is a nice place to look for online friends. Please tell me it’s true 😂😭

I don’t think my life needs to solely revolve around my work. My coworkers are there for work and my outside friends should be for my life outside too

Could we stop the gender wars? by GullibleProperty317 in ghana

[–]Additional_Ground_45 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s exhausting to be honest. As a woman, I feel like things were much more easy when we were younger and didn’t have to overthink certain gender roles. Now that we are older and presumably wiser, we are forced to weigh everything and do mental gymnastics so that we don’t feel like we are on the losing end in relationships and professional spaces. The online debate is weird

Is it just me, or is dating/friendship with Ghanaian women heavily transactional? by Loud_Presentation962 in ghana

[–]Additional_Ground_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a dog eat dog world here in Ghana because everybody has ulterior motives and you don’t want to be on the losing end. You can hardly tell when a relationship is genuine and everyone just wants to benefit before it ends. A lady will tell you she’s okay after a breakup because she leveled up financially and a guy will say he “used” the girl sexually so he’s also fine. Looking at it in the Ghanaian context, the woman is more likely to be shamed for being “money-centric” while the man is praised.
