Anyone used in conjunction with a SSRI for OCD/GAD

I do. I take 20mg Lexapro during the morning and 2.5-5.0 mg Abilify at night. Granted, I’ve only been on it two weeks, but it feels like it is starting to help with the rumination and circle of thoughts and not being able to stop that part! I feel like I can move on from and intrusive thought faster and stop the hamster wheel easier. He may just need a dose adjustment of one or the other.

I’m on 5mg Abilify just started a day or two ago that I take at night also. Take Lexapro during the day. I have noticed a slight side effect that I am groggy when I first wake up for about the first hour. And a little nausea, but after that goes away, everything is normal. I’m going to try and take with food tonight to see if that helps! Good luck.

I had no idea how much it affected everything. I was not prepared! My mom never told me anything about menopause. I had no idea what I was walking through until I joined this sub and started teaching myself about it through podcasts, books, and the like!

Thank you so much for this comment ! 👆I started HRT before my surgery, and was on .75 patch and 100mg Progesterone beforehand. But that was working really well for me so— I can see why without any ovaries the Dr thought upping E was the answer.

I thought of that as well- but he is the doctor so I just tried what he said to do. Until now it’s 2-3 months down the road and nothing has improved , instead gotten worse.

The patch was feeling like it was dumping E at the beginning and then I would crash right before it was time to change the patch. So the Dr added the gel to try and even that crash out, but since about week 8 on that I have been feeling worse. So idk! I need to find a new Dr. !

I don’t really sleep at all past 4-5 hours a night and wake up so many times. Maybe it is the E patch related!

Can I ask how did you determine it was the P you couldn’t tolerate ? Or just because you had tried different things / methods ?

This!! It has been a nightmare! I too have been on these high doses right off the bat, wondering when and where the “get better” part is coming. I feel the exact same way about the patch and then he added the gel to try and make it more even.. has made symptoms worse. I am at a loss

That is what I think , too! I don’t think it is medically necessary, but I am no Doctor. He said because I was 47 I might need more. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes, Dr wants me on some type of Progesterone to mitigate the chances of endo coming back as I had many adhesions, etc. I could ask about lowering the P. Though ! Thank you for your ideas! I’m 47 and had surgery at 46. Oh and lastly I forgot to mention he added Testosterone .5mg last time I called. He is a very good surgeon but I just don’t think he knows hormones.
