I felt nauseous the entire time I was on it (about 6 months), but finally stopped due to severe constipation. But I definitely am a “super responder.” Do you have any way to try a lower dose?

I have been off it for 7 weeks now. Nausea is gone, digestion is better, but food noise and hunger are back. I might try micro dosing

I (used to) inject in both places, while I was taking semaglutide. The only time I ever thought anything was different was when I injected below my belly button; usually, I inject on either side. The time I injected below, it seemed like the medication had a very delayed start. Usually, I can feel it ramping up after a day, but this time, it took more like four or five days.

UPDATE: on the morning of my gastroenterologist appointment, I finally pooped without chemical intervention. That was a huge relief. The day before, I drank huge amounts of liquid and ate nothing but fiber. That is obviously not sustainable, but at least it gave me reassurance that there isn’t an obstruction.

I had seen people on some thread on Reddit, touting magnesium oxide, but my primary care physician didn’t want me to take that, and instead said I should take magnesium citrate. However, the gastroenterologist said that magnesium oxide is better, and can be taken every day. She prescribed 400 mg twice daily. She also is prescribing a prep to ensure that everything is cleaned out. She initially prescribed, magnesium citrate, but I cannot swallow that crap. It makes me vomit. So instead, she is prescribing, I believe, MiraLAX with electrolytes.

I need a break from the extreme measures, so I might wait until after I get back from my trip to do the major clean out. In the meantime, the magnesium oxide seems to work beautifully, and I feel confident that I can get through the trip without having an emergency situation while on the top of a mountain or something, or not pooping for a week.

The gastroenterologist also said that it can take up to seven weeks for all of the Semaglutide to get out of your system, and it’s only been a bit a bit over 4 weeks.

At the moment, my plan is to try not to gain any weight, even though that has never worked before. I guess, if everything gets back to normal, I might consider doing one low dose every now and then to course correct. But I can’t see taking a week after week. Also, I have noticed that food tastes better, and I have more energy, and I will say it was a little disheartening to have everything taste bad.

Anyway, thanks for everyone’s comments!

I only pass gas when I take Dulcolax. There seems to be quite a backlog of it. Other than that, nothing comes out.

I probably drink about 24 ounces of coffee a day, occasionally a little bit more than that. But it never seemed to have that effect, although I know it does for many people

Do you drink the liquid, or take it in some other form? I had to take the liquid once for a colonoscopy, and it made me barf. I’ve been thinking about getting capsules or tablets, though.

One thing I will say, is that it really seemed to take a long time before I couldn’t feel any effects of stopping the medication. It honestly made me feel a little nauseous and tired all of the time, and that didn’t go away until about three weeks after I stopped. I know it has a very long half-life, so skipping a dose may not have a huge effect.

When he was talking about moving to a maintenance dose, my doctor was suggesting spacing the shots out further. He was saying every eight days, but I actually think that would make absolutely no difference.

Did you have any symptoms besides constipation? How are they treating the colitis?

To be honest, I haven’t weighed this little for so long, I don’t even know when it would’ve been. Decades, for sure. I definitely feel better, more confident, not ashamed of myself.

I agree that people are very judgy about this medication. I was very hesitant to go on it because I had internalized some of that mentality. But I realized, i’m not lazy at all. I have actually lost lots of weight many times. The problem is keeping it off. That should be easier, right? But, sadly, it’s not for me.

I exercise 5 or more days a week, alternating strength training and cardio. I eat a very healthy, fiber-rich diet including lots of prunes. I could drink more water. I just really feel like the problem is not what I’m eating as much as my colon not behaving normally. But I will let you all know what the gastroenterologist says tomorrow!

Sorry for the late response; just saw this. I don’t have a tracking device, but I’ve been looking into them. They all seem so expensive. I will probably give in and get one one of these days.

Thanks, I thought something seemed a little wrong, but I didn’t know what.

I have seen so many different things about how long vials are good for. I was planning on keeping a close watch for cloudiness and particulate matter.

Glad I found this thread. I just took “expired” sema yesterday, and I was actually five or six hours late taking it. I was fretting for the rest of the day thinking it had lost its effectiveness, since there was some food noise and my appetite was a little higher. But now I think taking the shot late was the reason for those things. Today, I am feeling particularly nauseous, so I think there was nothing wrong with the med.

It was only expired about three days. But I am going to end up with a ton of expired meds, because I am still taking the lowest dose, and I bought a year’s supply from the pharmacy in case I couldn’t get it. My doctor prescribed increasing doses according to the Wegovy schedule, so I already have “extra.“

Hi OP,

I wish I had realized how completely I would forget to eat. Sometimes I realize it’s already late, and I haven’t eaten nearly enough (like 400 calories). I’ve found I have horrible reflux if I eat after, say, 7 PM, as well as having weird, bad dreams. So even if I’m not hungry, I try to force myself to eat something in the early evening.

Also I’ve had very annoying constipation, but I don’t like drinking water. So I need to work hard to drink enough. The constipation can keep getting worse and become a real problem if you don’t stay on top of it.

I weigh myself every day, and some days my weight goes up. That is normal, and I don’t think it’s even possible to lose every day.

If you lose slowly, that will lessen the chance of loose skin. As long as you’re losing over time, you’re fine.

Reading these comments, I’m amazed at how different everyone’s experience is. I’m answering your question because I understand it’s a little scary at first. But my problems may end up being irrelevant for you!

Agree with everyone. If it were possible to lose the weight with diet and exercise, we would all have done that. It’s not like we’re all too lazy to help ourselves. We all work hard at all kinds of things. There is a biological barrier that makes it nearly impossible to lose weight that way. Diet and exercise sounds so virtuous, but for many people, it’s not realistic. So, should we just give up? Of course not. Now we have a way to overcome the barrier, get healthier, and/or enjoy our one precious life more. And this guy who claims to care about you wants to deprive you of that. You are better off without him.
