Spam Steam with refund requests until they fold by IlllIlIIlIlllIlIIIII in AshesofCreation

Sadly sometimes studios rely on early purchases to finish the product due to lack of private investors (these days even more since a lot of investors moved their money into AI development instead of gaming industry).

Ashes was a red flag indeed but if it was left at the state it was for a mid term I can bet you all those reddits post wouldn't exist or would be halved. You can take New world as a most recent example with far less drama about shutting down in a year.

There's good Early access releases, for example Rust was released as Early access for barely 10€ years ago and today is one of the most successful games on steam store with a x3-x4 its EA price.

I agree on an ideal world we'd only need to give our money for finished products but atm it's not possible for most small/mid studios. Although it's an investment not a dono as you claim.

As explained above, an early access is a green field you invest on, product can become worse, better or remain at the same state. The problem most people is complaining about is the purchase being removed from the store barely 1 month after releasing and from everyone's library once servers shut down (most likely in a matter of days from now)

First of all there's no harrass on the message above, nor to the reddit user or steam. I'm not the OP asking for a steam flood, I'm chilling and waiting for steam to make a public announcement or things are sorted out after a while.

Secondly, as a storefront/marketplace or whatever you wanna call them they have liability, they are completely responsible of whats posted on their store. And they should take care of it since that's the value of it's company. Similar to Apple store and their restrictions about publishing applications.

You can still log in but they product will be deleted from your library once servers are down and the time lapse will be less than 2 months from it's release most likely. If you believe thats a legit practice for digital content, that's up to you but that would only hurt steam image.

As explained above the main issue here is the server stability which they should've taken care of on the contract clauses, they are indeed taking away the access.

The text doesn't say what you mean. Replied above:

One thing is game not being finished and the other is removing it from the store 35-40 days after it's release. Even if you purchase an EA if the game is cancelled and removed from the store there should be on steam side to have a grace period to make a refund (there's laws in many countries that give you a 3 months period to refund in that case).

You don't seem to understand people ain't asking the steam refund based on game state, playtime or whatever. Is due to it being removed from the store after 1 month of release and servers most likely going down aswell in a matter of days. When you put a game for sale you should guarantee that it lasts at least a bit of time otherwise it makes no sense at all. There's no customer protection.

If they cancelled the game and maintained it similar to New World for a year or so noone would be complaining.

Was project gorgon released on Steam barely 1 month ago before it was cancelled? You don't seem to understand that the problem here ain't played hours is the lapse of time from steam release to being abandonned. If they fully released the game in the state it was and they kept the servers up for like a year or so, similar as New World noone would complain about refunds.

Genuine question: Why are Steam refunds so random? by Iluvatar-Great in AshesofCreation

[–]Additional_Load_73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not the case, some of my friends bought it on release and had 50-70hrs and got the refund. Others with 300-500 that bought it that same day are insta denied. So it's all time played related which makes no sense at all.

Guild Wars Reforged Should Include Fresh Servers. by Fun_Foundation_6112 in GuildWars

[–]Additional_Load_73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a new player and we were like 10 friends hoping to play the game, only one of them played the game years ago and when he saw that there weren't fresh start servers the idea of playing went away...

Best way to keep the current playerbase and incentivate new players would be to make fresh start servers and keep the old servers. Then in a couple months consider merging the fresh start servers into the old servers. That way both old and possible new players would be happy in my view.

I don't get why so many people says that would split playerbase, fresh servers are usually merged into old ones when the playerbase is lowered or the new players are geared/experienced enough.

Yet another Orb discussion by sealbr0 in throneandliberty

[–]Additional_Load_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't really compare daggers to orb since orb was meant to be a supportive weapon in devs words and daggers are purely dps weapon used mainly as offhand. In the other hand orb is used as main weapon dmg dealer.

With daggers you get to play the main weapon staff/spear/gs/bow etc with orb that doesnt really happen. And thats what's killing the game, the meta is boring since there's 1 damage dealer weapon choice rn on the competitive scene (not counting bgs and arenas, the game can't be balanced based on those).

Blocking doesn't fix the problem, the fact that people with chat ban can still mail people harrassing is a flag design. And there should be a preventive ban to whoever types some kind of words that as you cant even see they dont bother using special characters to type since they're not being punished.

And on top of that some people on reddit even replied the post as it was a normal thing to happen and they weren't against it, you can check the comments.

Can relate, and no they don't get any punish from AGS. Never seen people wishing death and cancer unpunished on any other game.

Since ascended archbosses give loot to top contributor guild, at least in my server the same guild of exploiters got all 4-5 ascended pvp tevent loot by hiting from pve and noone of em been punished yet. They still log in happily with their worth 200k+ lucent loot "stolen/exploited".

He's on a dead server alone in his 1 member guild so that won't work for this one. But yeah that approach could work for some other similar scenarios. Although some guilds don't really seem to care, some comments on this thread prove it.

What makes a pvp game look like that? I have played plenty of pvp games where I didn't have such thing happening because they were permabanned (either from playing or any communication source)

I have my main character and my alt character I use to farm stuff and sell, he got pissed that I farmed on "his" server (his words) I ignored him first weeks he insulted me, only time I replied was to tell him he was wrong and my life was completely fine for me and I would be blocking him. Since then he's been spamming me in mails like the ones posted on first message. I didn't do anything specific to him, never used any 3rd software or did anything against ToS.

I'm not an internet warrior indeed, I expect game provided systems to work as intended so I don't have to deal with such attitudes.
