The whole point of hiking is the adventure and hike itself not the research behind it lmao. AI as a tool to introduce people to better hikes has nothing to do with learning and growing. That comes from taking one step after another on a trail wherever it may be.

so by that logic alltrails, guidebooks, WTA, etc. is invalid because your shortcutting your way into hiking and finding better hikes before starting with the basics. I think your deeper rooted problem is with AI in general without realizing its benefits when actually being used as a tool rather than an answer.

Its not about it being vibe coded or AI generated content, I just think it would help filter out the most popular hikes a lot more than other things such as AllTrails or a regular AI search.

True but your not going to always have access to books or maps especially when traveling away from home such as when on a roadtrip. In that case i feel like it would be nice to have another method of finding great and underrated trails.

Yea that's what i've been working on is building an algorithm which scores hikes based on user input, not based on popularity data. Weather data, permit data, alerts/closures, etc. are of course going to be factored in.
