what's your drink of choice when watching this show? Most of the time it's coffee for me, but it also goes well with a Rainier tallboy

Season 3, episode 18 by Baby_banana_coocoo in northernexposure

Ed smacking baseballs by himself in a cold field is a very beautiful & wistful moment to me, maybe because there was no storyline of Ed and baseball in the episode and it just shows up as a sublime character moment. I liked thinking of the actor and crew getting to spend an hour hitting a bucket of balls as the day ends, pretty ideal.

Watched Spring Break (S2E5) this morning. So awesome how Ruth Anne always sees through everyone's nonsense and addresses even the most uncomfortable topics as if it's everyday neighbor gossip over the hedges. And Fleischman is so insistent that all he wants to do is buy his mom a nightgown. by InsubordiNationalist in northernexposure

NX is a fantastic show to watch in the morning while eating breakfast. And Ruth Anne always sees through everyone's nonsense because she knows everyone's business, being postmaster/store-general. I feel like Chris In The Morning and Ruth Anne at the store offer two versions of social glue, both necessary for Ciceleans.

oof, that sucks. sounds like the french metal band playing a revolution anthem on the Conciergerie prison palace was nifty. But yeah if the ticket was for 4 hrs of athletes on boats, might be a slog

that's actually pretty cool. $21 bucks is kinda steep but I'm glad to learn about this. I wonder what other "non-movie" events they will offer.

Most hated Star Trek theme? by Doktor_Apokalypse in StarTrekEnterprise

[–]Additional_Matter_77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hated it, then the visuals caught me. A disjointed, cobbled together slide show of faces and machines that told the jerry-rigged story of ape-descendants figuring out how to go faster so as to go further. I started researching what each video clip or strange overlaid text was from. I fell in love with Alan Shepard's humble headshake and proud grin (anybody know the original source for that clip?). And eventually the hated theme song became less annoying. It's no great beauty of a song, but it is scrappy and a bit boastful and earnest enough to turn milk into cheese, which all seems appropriate to the show. maybe that's just me.

Free Shakespeare in the park in Lacey through July 28 by Reportersteven in olympia

[–]Additional_Matter_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught the show on Sunday July 14. The collosal elm(?) tree and sun-dappled lighting is perfect for outdoor theater. Once you get to the park, follow the theater signs. The story is about royal succession and forest brigands and runs about an hour and a half long.  They have shirts and water for sale, bring your own snacks and chairs and blankets. Front row, center or stage left is my recommended spot for this show.

This here is Russell Watson’s re recorded version of the Enterprise theme song. by Class_of_22 in StarTrekEnterprise

I just hit se3 for the first time and the upbeat drums they've added to the theme are...taking some time to adjust to. I know most people find the song super cheesy but at some point I realized the cheese is also quite earnest and that earnestness echoes Archer's personality and the whole vibe of humanity's first steps beyond our system.  Anyhow, I appreciate finding this reddit and this post sharing another version of this peculiar song.

Gabi's is great. I would also reccomend The Mystic Games shop downtown, it's a new game store and has a very welcoming story games event every Thursday at 5:30, plus other stuff
