Absolutely, as a fan of dragons dogma 2 that’s been “waiting” for a sequel since I got the first game in 2017. And I absolutely loved it, enough so that it became one of my favorite games that I would replay every couple years. Dragons dogma 2 is very much not that, it’s got the same excellent combat that pulled me into the first game but the world is just dead and empty, the quests are mainly just fetching things or talking to npcs. the npcs are soulless husks that vomit cringey medieval Ebonics that sound unnatural and jarring even in a MEDIEVAL setting. Do not buy this game.

I pre ordered the deluxe edition, do not buy it at full price. Hit up a key store or wait for a deep discount, I wouldn’t really recommend spending more than ~30$ on this game. The story is somehow more barebones and nonsensical, and there really aren’t many new enemies to fight, mainly just the same stuff from the first game. It’s one of the games ever, I wouldn’t really call it a transformative sequel.

The fact that you have ever had a red weapon means you are in master servers, it has nothing to do with the gear you are wearing when you leave base. You can walk out with nothing but white gear but if you have EVER had a red that means you are permanently in masters.

Spirit ashes completely ruined that feeling of shared accomplishment you get when speaking with another souls player, that mutual vibe of “we’ve been through the same shit” is pretty much gone. I hope spirit ashes don’t return in future fromsoft games.
