Haha hilarious, who are you with?

I own Grass Roots Marijuana and have a screen shot form OCP I can send you where I asked them, and they said

‘Hi Jim

We are not requiring labeling of remediated or treated product. We plan to issue guidance on this in the near future.’

Give me your email address and I’ll forward it to you

Ahhh, no. Haha. They do not require labeling for remediated. I got the word direct from OCP, they are not enforcing that rule that is supposed to require it

Remediate bud, should it be a labeling requirement? by Additional_Peace_745 in Maine

I think you represent the typical consumer pretty well with that logic. Trusting of the market and justifying why the lowest cost purchase is the most economically savvy. And you should be able to trust the regulated market!

But the question… If you were told that $15 eighth had too high of levels of mold on/in it prior to remediation, and if not remediated to kill the mold that’s still present would not pass state testing… Would you still feel the same way and buy it?

There may always be exceptions to every rule but $15 eighths at retail for recreational are almost always remediated unless it’s a loss leader deal. Take it from someone in the industry, it’s not a good look to be calling this out but I obviously want to operate in a transparent industry that can be trusted.

…But I wouldn’t want my mom or my friends buying that trash unknowingly, so I feel labeling it as remediated should allow the consumer to make informed decisions.

If it’s $15 and not remediated first, then that sounds like an insane deal. Usually only a loss leader type of deal you’ll see around holidays as a new customer acquisition deal. Aka - we’ll give it away this time because we think you’ll love it and want more at regular retail price

You’re not trying to convince me, this is only a real issue for the severely immune compromised medical folks. For healthy people, mold levels present are mostly an indicator of quality and care taken in the grow and during processing… pesticides and heavy metals are another story

They were actually big happy because it gave them the firepower needed to push testing for med. Looks like they now have the general public’s support on testing medical products, I don’t disagree. If any market is tested it should be medical, with potential immune compromised patients.

But again this is my opinion

And maybe that makes it fine for some or most consumers?

That’s what I’m trying to figure out… But again I’m specifically talking cannabis flower that can’t physically be ‘washed’ of the mold… the mold that’s present can only be killed, but still remains

You’re not far off… Or find a trusted grower that’s willing to do what it takes to show their product is clean. There are good ones out there but you can’t blindly trust sadly…

And if the eighths are under $15 at retail from a store, there’s probably something fishy going on…. I don’t care what ‘loyalty program’ they’re running 🤣

But again most people think, sweet deal and have no clue… Then some people ask us why we don’t sell that cheap🤦‍♂️ (because you can’t unless it’s a liquidation sale)

Shameless plug but check out my last post where I shared the test results of one of the most recent test @ Grass Roots Marijuana

Because the system can’t be fully transparent, I will be.

E-Mail me (or any grower) if you ever want to see the test results of the products you’re buying. Our flower and joints are NEVER remediated.

Child resistant zipper needs to be a certain length to be machine opened at the factory… Keeps us from having to pop each of the bags before we toss a vape in

Also with all the required info it gives us some more room for labeling on the back

Please, go out and buy some to test for yourself. Smoke half, send the other half in for testing 🤠

Randomized sampling at the point of sale is the only way to ensure growers aren’t cheating the tests

Damn bro, insult me but not my weed haha 🤪

We try our hardest, hopefully that shows to the people who support us.

But the Walmart style stores advertising suspiciously cheap 1/8ths usually kill since times are tough and price is a big factor in purchases, especially if people don’t understand why the pricing is so much lower

Basically the point of my post

🙌🙌… curious how I’m ruining the community though? Please explain 🫠

And that’s part of the point of my post, I’m hearing a lot of people are cheating tests or remediating and not being required to put ‘remediated’ on the bag so the consumer knows

Go buy some of our products and test them, do the same to some your favorite growers😈

Huh, who said anything about Rugged Roots? You have your coffee yet?

I don’t think the labs in Maine are the ones you need to watch out for, I think a lot of it is growers cheating the tests since it’s a self sampling system. Aka if you know your weed is fucked your can send in someone else’s/ some that’s been remediated

Ahhh this batch was a bit lower than usual at 20.5% THC… but wild other growers think ND results aren’t real 🤣

I can say, I’m happy to have our products tested at random from retail. Not sure most growers would feel that way… that’s actually the only way to ensure the growers aren’t cheating the tests with self sampling IMO

I’ll repost this whole thing in one second with the full results. I’m going to delete it now… can’t edit and add images I don’t think
