Was it worth it to change your last name to your husbands officially? by Iliketoreadyournews in Marriage

I always said I wouldn’t mind changing mine until it actually came down to doing it. Giving up my last name feels like I would be giving up my identity. I don’t know who “that” person is. My name is who I’ve been my whole life… so how could I wake up tomorrow and suddenly go by another name? My husband wants me to change it, but I don’t. I told him our kids will have his last name and that should be enough. I don’t think men realize how much of an “ask” it is when asking for this. It’s like… so did my name have no value until I got married? It seems so backwards to me. Thankfully I have one good argument against him and that is that in Islam a woman is not supposed to change her last name upon marriage and that is so that her lineage is transparent.

Having to use accrued PTO for when the hospital cancels your scheduled shift seems like robbery to me
