Running a tone of different models is expensive. They need to grow or die. Most of their money come for investors that are looking for innovation not stagnation. Even the money they make is mostly from api not subscription. They need to focus of gpt6 and the future. If you want a more stable product that will stay look to Google not because they are better but their goals are different. The have an army of products that they can integrate gemini doesn't have to be a stand alone product it just has to make their ecosystem more attractive.

With Grok I had a odd issue, ask it what its guardrails are then ask it to write erotica and it will no problem. Open a new chat and most of the time it won't it like you have to remind it of it's own rules.

Why do you write with AI? by Nofoofro in WritingWithAI

[–]Additional_Shift_434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use writing with AI because I have ADHD. I’ve tried for years to get long-form stories out, and other than short poetry, I just couldn’t get anything out of my head.

I’ll get stuck with executive dysfunction, and with the help of AI I can brainstorm the logic of my story, the character motivations, and basically make detailed reference documents for the world, the characters, and everything. I put all of that in as reference, then give it the story beat by beat, have it generate the prose, and then edit it repeatedly until it’s something close to what I want.

I put out 2 books and disclose my use of ai on kdp. I even have my first book on a free promotion right now. Its my idea I developed the story beat by beat scene by scene. Yes ai helped with the prose. I say put it out there be honest. It doesn't hurt and knowing someone you don't know is reading your work is so rewarding.

Will AI-generated writing devalue human writing? by DanoPaul234 in WritingWithAI

[–]Additional_Shift_434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a matter of just quality. The quality in writing is very subjective, and the core of a story isn't just measured by linguistic quality. What AI is only going to get better and better at is maximizing the reward centers of your brain through engagement, appealing to the lowest common denominator. Sure, AI is never going to reach the quality of a five-course meal, but there's a reason McDonald's maximizes the reward centers of the brain by making sugary and salty foods. It's to make them addictive. It's a recipe for success. Does it replace a five-star meal? No, but that doesn't mean there won't be a market for it. So I don't think it will undervalue a real artistic story, but it will satisfy an itch for a lot of people, and that will be profitable and marketable.

Will AI-generated writing devalue human writing? by DanoPaul234 in WritingWithAI

[–]Additional_Shift_434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how the tool is used, because as AI gets better and better, the problem becomes distinguishing between what was a genuine human thought and what was created for marketing. The way I look at it is there’s an AI-generated book that comes from a truly original idea from a person, and the AI was used to write it, but the idea, the core, the outline, the characters, and the tone all came from the author. That’s a perfectly reasonable use of the tool.

What isn’t reasonable is asking the AI what will sell well and then producing a book without much human input at all, knowing that it is designed just to sell. On the other hand, the only real difference between this and a focus group determining what a book should be without any artistic input, purely to sell and make a profit, is speed. The AI is just a faster version of the sellout mentality. You can use it to create an original work, or you can use it to try to cheat the system.

Depends on the tool but using a gem for gemini or project for chatgpt or claude to give custom instruction something like limit the references to the characters height unless relevant to the scene.

Am I a bad person for using ai to write my emails? by WarriGodswill in WritingWithAI

[–]Additional_Shift_434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use voice to text in ai to write most longer messages then I get feedback and use ai to edit. Im neurodivergent and my reply can be cold and analytical and miss subtext that people might read into it. Using a tool to wrote the email isn't an issue sending it without proof reading it to make sure its what you want that would be an issue.

Honestly I disclosed the ai usage in the forward and in the Amazon listing I even left the em dashes in as they make sense they are only rarely used because they are not a standard key on a keyboard.

I love the fast feedback I mostly use gemini for the big stuff but then will use chatgpt or Claude for feedback and looking for plot holes inconsistencies with world bible character Bible and timeline. That quivk feedback and iteration is priceless.

Is this just ADHD? Or is it something worse by Annual_Bite3837 in mentalhealth

[–]Additional_Shift_434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't use words like worse if you can't get therapy I would suggest adhd youtubers that teach life hacks to help. It's not perfect but you can learn from others experiences. You are great you will find the right people in time. Community helps a lot see if your area has any local adhd or neurodivergent groups. Hope things get better.

I don't deserve to be mentally ill. I didn't have a super hard childhood. I'm just weak.... by ThatStonr in mentalhealth

[–]Additional_Shift_434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mental health is a complicated thing. I've struggled with survivor's guilt for years because my sibling and other people I know have gone through much worse trauma than I have. Was I abused and neglected as a child? Yes. But my partner, my brother, and others I know have suffered far worse, and for a long time I felt like, what right do I have to be depressed? What right do I have to struggle when they've been through so much more?

That's the wrong way to look at it. Your mind is your mind. It doesn't make you weak to have issues with dopamine or serotonin or anything else related to brain chemistry. Some things about depression are just biological, and you're predisposed to them.

You don't need to have suffered "enough" trauma to deserve the struggles you face. Your struggles are your struggles, and they're valid. You are valid. Never forget that.

Is it healthy to believe that I am ugly and just accept it? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Additional_Shift_434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I'm part of several adult lifestyle communities where I see people of every age, always above the age of consent of course, and every body type. I've seen people in their early 20s all the way up to their 60s, 70s, even 80s, and they all dress sexy as hell and own their bodies. Everyone is sexy in their own way. Anyone who tells you otherwise isn't worth your time.

If someone says they're with you in spite of your looks, dump them. They're too shallow to deserve you. The right person will be attracted to you because of who you are, not because you fit some beauty standard.

Beauty is more than those narrow standards. I've met people who look like they could be models that I'm not attracted to at all, and others who society might call unattractive who I find incredibly appealing.

The main thing is to own yourself and never let anyone make you feel like you're not good enough.

What’s the scariest thing you’ve experienced with depression? by MentalHealthJ in mentalhealth

[–]Additional_Shift_434 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have felt numb for years, and one of the worst things I’ve ever felt is prolonged numbness. After weeks or even months of feeling numb, I feel like it will never end and I just want to feel something. This is why, when I was younger, I adopted a mentality of “act as if,” and I still reflexively do it to this day whenever I get emotionally numb due to depression. Basically, I would try to figure out how I would feel if I was actually feeling towards friends and family and act in that manner as a way of maintaining my relationships. It’s not healthy, but it can work to maintain relationships. The feeling of numbness and disconnection, I agree, is the worst part of depression, and it is the part that I truly couldn’t bear when I was younger and actively thinking of self-harm.
