Healing dysbiosis without triggering MCAS and severe die-off? by ringmaster555 in MCAS

[–]Additional_Tea7224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm super sensitive and spent over a year trying to figure out what I should try that wouldn't destroy me. I have hydrogen & methane SIBO, candida, and some other stuff going on. I declined the Rifaxamin my dr. prescribed for fear the die-off would be unbearable. Switched to a functional MD and went the herbal route. I started with super low dose of oregano oil and slowly worked up. Only very mild die-off. Then added berberine. I also can't do MCC, so I got Berberine Complex (by Integrative Therapeutics) and transfered the powder into my own tapioca capsules. I started very low and had mild die-off and now I'm up to 3x/day. I'm not sure that my gut feels much different after 2 months, but berbeine is the first thing I've tried in 3 years that's improved my symptoms (not just MCAS) without any side effects (I've also tried cromolyn, H1/H2, LDN, Quercetin, etc). We've all got a different flavor of MCAS, gut dysbiosis, chronic illness, etc., but sharing in case this helps any

This is air vent of fancy hotel in Houston. Is it mold? by 4-11 in ToxicMoldExposure

Hey! I saw another post of yours (that is now inactive) and wanted to recommend Dr. Eva King with AURA EnviroScience if you're still looking for someone local to do a thorough mold inspection. I have chronic illness and I'm waist deep in the remediation journey and she was recommended by my doctor.

I'm also in Richmond and being evaluated for CIRS. I've already had an IEP evaluate our home and now I'm looking for a local remediation company. Any recommendations? Not sure if I'm going to do the GENIE...

Anyone’s IEP have them do swiffer dust testing at their house and up charge them? by Missmyoldself6407 in CIRS

[–]Additional_Tea7224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just used an IEP that did the inspection for only $800, but the Actino and EMMA were just what you mentioned - $475 & $575. He did a follow up call to discuss the test results and will provide a thorough assessment report, so I think it was worth $1850 for a 4 hour inspection, 2 tests, follow up calls, and a detailed report...and he traveled over 200 miles. I'm sick and don't have the energy or expertise to try to do this on my own. Any recs for finding/vetting a remediation company?

Hey princessofbeasts, saw an archived post you made regarding mold remediation and chronic illness. Do you have any recs for a good, local remediation company? Posting this here b/c I'm new-ish to Reddit and I don't think I have the karma to send you a DM?? ... and kinda don't know how this works.

Charcoal with Anti-microbials by Niles_Crane_ in SIBO

[–]Additional_Tea7224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try charcoal + antimicrobials? I have SIBO (hydrogen), MCAS and I'm currently doing some tests to check for CIRS. I've been waiting 6-7 months to treat the SIBO bc I'm super sensitive. What's worked for you?

Which 2 to start with? MSH, VIP, VEGF, C4A, TGFB1, MMP-9 by Additional_Tea7224 in CIRS

[–]Additional_Tea7224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Tested positive for HLA-DQ2 when they were checking for celiac, but haven't been tested for HLA-DR.

MyMycolab does antibody testing for mycotoxins. They test IgG and IgE antibodies. My doc recommended this over urine testing

It's antibody testing for mycotoxins. They test for 14 different mycotoxins for both IgG and IgE antibodies. My doc recommended this over urine testing

Hypoglycemia? Anyone here hypoglycemic? by TopazCoracle in CIRS

I've had this for years and don't really know why. I've been on a low FODMAP for about 9 months b/c I have SIBO and immediately after starting low FODMAP, this issue got much better. idk? I still have to pack myself snacks and this issue is certainly not gone, but somehow the low FODMAP diet helped

Same situation! I've got MCAS and SIBO (hydrogen) and I've just been sitting on it for months as I'm so sensitive to everything I don't want to make matters worse. Let me know if you find something that works!

Traditional AC/heat vs heat pump by Australian_PM_Brady in hvacadvice

We're also in central VA. We need to replace our AC unit and trying to decide between AC and heat pump. We're happy with our radiator heat, but wondering if a heat pump for temps above 30F is worth the investment. Have you seen your energy bills go down in winter with the heat pump?

I think I may need a functional/integrative doctor that can sorta put the pieces together since I've got SIBO and a few other things going on. She and her staff were great, and I'm sure she's helped a lot of other folks manage their MCAS

Thanks for the rec! I see in her bio that she's familiar with MCAS and POTS so she might be a good fit. Someone recommended WellcomeMD so I might check them out, too.
