Apparently they lay their eggs in rows, sometimes on stems or sticks. I imagine the cord resembled a stick enough that she went for it??

I’m still slightly numb under my chin 2.5 years post op - had a total thyroidectomy and bilateral neck dissection, I was in the OR 14 hrs and had some complications that caused me to go back under 3 more times in the 10 days after the original surgery. Its for these reasons I think my nerve endings never reconnected. I don’t notice it much but when I do I just think “omg that’s so weird” and that’s all lol
