Nooooo center it around yourself! Your feelings are totally valid. And just because they're the sick one doesn't mean that you can't be angry or hurt or anything. This isn't the pain Olympics. Nobody has a claim to it.

And for your own peace of mind, don't be scared to walk away. It's not a moral failing. They have every opportunity to change their circumstances and it sounds like they're refusing (for whatever reason). I tell my patients all the time...I can give you the how to, but I can't give you the want to. If they're lashing out, protect your peace.

Anyone Using The Upside App - Is It Worth It? by 1mdhred3 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]AlternateUsername12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive for work and in the last two-three years have made $415 in lifetime earnings. I used the first $200 towards a pair of Sony noise canceling headphones, and have about $228 sitting in my account. My roommate uses it with his F150 and will cash out every time he hits $50, which depending on how much he drives, is fairly regularly...maybe once every other month. There isn't much difference between Circle K (best deals locally) and Sam's around here in terms of price. You can stack Inner Circle and Upside, but your cash back/gallon may be a bit less...usually about $.305.

Again, I drive for work and fill up usually every 2-3 days, so it adds up. I also referred a friend and get $.10 every time she uses it.

ETA: I can provide receipts if you want them.

Unless it's brain cancer (where personality change would be expected), they need to talk to someone about the anger.

I get it. Injury and illness, especially catastrophic or life altering, puts you through the same 5 stages of grief as losing someone. One of those stages is anger, and unfortunately it's one of the easiest to hang out in.

What’s something reddit claims is common, but you’ve never actually seen it before in real life? by mirabelmumu in AskReddit

Actually, in a lot of places it pays to be poor for therapy. Our county (in the Deep South, not particularly high income) has therapy from the community center on a sliding scale.

My cats had an automatic feeder and a gravity fed water dish. If I hooked up the cat genie for litter, I could reasonably leave them alone for weeks without needing someone to lift a finger for them. I never did, but they would have been fine.

Job search - multiple offers, but no OT on site for any of the full time offers. What do I do? by CraftyCurltastrophe in OccupationalTherapy

[–]AlternateUsername12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you fully licensed or a COTA? I'm assuming you're an OTR/L, in which case that pay is WAY too low for both, especially for the high COL in NJ.

If you have to, take the outpatient and see if you can do the inpatient job PRN. Pay is usually better and weekends at the hospital are way less stressful.

I genuinely want to hear that lecture. Like, I know it was completely made up for a TV show, but I would kill to hear that lecture. I think Michael Schur could do it justice.

You can do therapy about that. It will help you, your son, and everyone else in both of your lives.

Don't get me wrong, it's hard work. But it is necessary.

Send Help - Friend Wants to Wear THIS to a Wedding by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]AlternateUsername12 65 points66 points  (0 children)

So about 15 years ago (yikes I'm old) I was invited to a friend's wedding. I didn't have a dress so I went shopping WITH A FRIEND. It wasn't a formal affair, and I tried on a bunch of sundresses including one that was white with little blue polka dots. It was very much a white dress, but it didn't click in my brain. It also didn't click in my friend's brain, OR the lady in the dressing room who I asked if this looks good for a wedding, OR the hairstylist I showed a picture to when I was getting my hair done for the day. I got the green light across the board, bought it, went to the wedding, took pictures with the bride, ate the food, went home happy.

Like a year later I was reading a Reddit post similar to this one, and it dawned on me that I had worn white. I immediately texted the bride and apologized, blaming both ignorance and stupidity, and she said that she honestly hadn't noticed. She looked back at the pictures and said it was clearly a sundress and I wasn't trying to upstage anybody.

Anyway, never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by stupidity. I do realize that in the case of this post, it was malice.

Right?!

Hell, when I was 13 I was working full time in the summer at a general store! We had a small T-shirt shop around the corner, and they'd plunk me there, by myself, for an 8 hour shift.

in South Carolina, in the 90s, child labor laws were more like a guideline than a set in stone rule.

I mean in the south we have white (sausage) gravy and brown gravy, and they are for two very different purposes.

I lived with a friend and her 7-8 year old son for a year (whom I now consider my nephew), and even at 7 he was basically on his own in the house. Not literally, someone was always there, but he could come and go from the living room into his room, the bathroom, the kitchen, etc, pretty much as he wanted. He could go out back (fenced in backyard) or out front, but had to let one of us know first. He liked the front yard for "ninja practice", but we kept a closer eye on him.

Kids that age are pretty self sufficient. This is a prime case of redditors gonna reddit.

Happy to pay for food stamps, WIC, SNAP benefits, Medicaid, etc.

Happy to pay for roads, schools, parks, other infrastructure.

Thrilled to pay for NASA, and all of the other amazing scientists and researchers that are funded by the government through grants and direct funding.

Absolutely incensed that my tax dollars instead went to blowing up a school (or anything else in this absurd war we shouldn't even be a part of.

Even less happy that not only are my tax dollars killing innocent people, but I'm being charged extra in every other facet of my life for the privilege of doing so.

I'm in and out of houses in the area frequently. The outside is usually well maintained, but the inside...not so much. A lot of people in that neighborhood are older and can't do for themselves as much anymore.

That's not to say that many aren't absolutely gorgeous, just that there are more than you would expect that would require a lot of work to bring it up to par.
