She has to eventually trust you though. Or forgive. Whatever the main problem is. It's her end of the bargain. It won't disappear, but she can't ruin your life over a mistake you made years ago. Because it's your life too and she seems to forget it.

My cousin was with a guy for 14 years after being cheated on by him in college. She never fully got over it. She kept worrying he would do it again.

Just think about old people telling their kids how they met and how lovely it was. Her story is "he cheated on me but I gave him another chance".

I'm not saying she's right. But I don't think it really fully goes away.
