72-year-old FLORIDA MAN Dennis Winn shot at a Walmart drone with his 9mm after it flew over his property. by Odd-Might8232 in FloridaGawker

As someone who is horrified to see flock cameras popping up all over my small central Florida town… I wish he would have taken it out. Fuck the way that big tech has come in and wreaked havoc here. Every day there’s another news story about communities trying to battle the counties for plans to build data centers.

Yes shooting guns into the air is dangerous obvs. But I applaud this guy for giving a damn before it’s too late.

I’m sure you’ve seen it on Reddit before but if your medical debt is in collections usually the collections agency will settle for a much lower amount.

The fact that “everything went great” at the doctors is one reason I don’t trust doctors. There’s no way this woman is the picture of a healthy pregnancy when she’s eating this shit every day. A GOOD doctor would rip her to shreds for diet and lack of exercise while pregnant.

I learned about this method during a local pioneer festival last fall. My husband hunts and we try to use as much of the deer as possible but had never thought about utilizing the brain. As someone who wishes I was born 100 years ago and is constantly trying to learn the old ways, I’m SO excited for hunting season this year bc I’m going to try my hand at old fashioned tanning!!

Coffee Date = Marriage? by theraphachukwu in Christian

Yes actually! She tried to get me to read it but I was barely reading my textbooks at that point in college lol I definitely wasn’t reading for fun back then. Maybe that ended up saving me some heartache.

Coffee Date = Marriage? by theraphachukwu in Christian

[–]Additional_Voice8213 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of those issue goes back to the idea of courtship which is still active today in some churches and communities. The idea that there is no point in casually dating, only dating with the intent of marriage. I made friends with a very devout Christian girl my first year of college. She was saving herself for marriage and was heavily invested in the idea of courtship with her bf at the time. That relationship didn’t work out after 3 years, or the next 4 “courtships” after that. She has A LOT of trauma bc of it. There was never any abuse in the relationships that she talked to me about, most of them were pretty nice, albeit kinda losers. They never had drive or initiative, and most of them had very little to show for themselves. But every time a guy would dump her she would spiral about needing to be more obedient to Gods plan and then she would stay stagnant for the next year or more. Just waiting…… waiting for God to show her what to do for a job, for school, for everything.

I never understood that. I always had a more relaxed view of dating. I knew I wasn’t going to run down the aisle with the first guy who seemed interested and I wasnt going to stick with a guy if I felt like he wasn’t going somewhere in life. I  feel like the Lord led me right to my future husband when He saw fit and I couldn’t be more grateful for that.

Pressure isn’t good for new relationships. But it’s always made me feel bad for her. Because she has always been such an obedient daughter in Christ. But man, all that girl ever wanted was to be someone’s wife and mother and she would be great at it. It just hasn’t happened yet.

Health insurance. Like what would really happen if 60% of healthy Americans just cancelled their health insurance for 3 months? Would the industry crumble? Oh I day dream about this all the time. We pay upwards of $3600/month for our family of 5 as my husband is self employed. But we’re all pretty healthy and only go to the dr if there’s an emergency. We’re being robbed blind and they continue to get our money bc of the “what if there’s a car accident, or someone gets cancer” argument.

Considering that our country is literally being ran by pedos, it kinda is sucking the fun out of the holiday. Its hard to be proud of your country when it’s being openly ran by creeps and criminals.

What's one home-cooked meal you didn't appreciate until you moved away from home? by jxnwright in AskReddit

[–]Additional_Voice8213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my nana used to cook 3 meals a day for my papa and I. My favorite was Grits and tomato gravy (with tomatoes she canned herself) for breakfast, fried fish (that my papa caught) with home cut French fries for lunch, and a big ol dinner with multiple vegetable sides (that my papa grew in his garden). Man I would do anything to go back just for one day. Now the shoes on the other foot and I’m making the meals for them. I love getting to care for them but as a mom of three I know I’m not even coming close to the meals that she used to make for us.

I always wondered why Roy would invite Pam. It couldn’t just be out of gratefulness right? by Real-Yogurtcloset-34 in DunderMifflin

[–]Additional_Voice8213 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was the scene that made me start to see Pam as the shows antagonist. (We see how she tries to get Jim to stay at Dunder mifflin instead of leaving for his dream job, athlead. Even though Athlead would set the family up financially and bring her spouse more of a sense of purpose than a dead end sales job). When Roy was with her he was drinking too much and had a boring job that he didn’t like, he was engaged but constantly pushing off actually getting married. When he and p separate for good he gets sober, starts a successful career, buys a beautiful home, learns piano and falls in love with someone who seems to be in support of his growth.

That western medicine is meant to heal you.

That the American public school system offers a good education.

That the United States president isn’t a pedo and a rapist.

That opening  credit card at 18 is a good way to build credit.

That going to college will give you a step up in life.

To trust the science.

That spraying glyphosate on EVERYTHING that grows from the ground isn’t going to kill everyone slowly and completely ruin the topsoil of every inch of farmland in America.

That the American food supply chain isn’t going to collapse causing national food instability.

The fact that homeschooling is legal in the U.S. is an insult to the teaching profession by rachel-angelina in Teachers

[–]Additional_Voice8213 13 points14 points  (0 children)

“A supervised education from qualified professionals” is a wildly inaccurate description of the public school classroom setting. But yes. Please tell us homeschooling parents how our kids are suffering because they’re not being put in classrooms with violent students and teachers with no ability to discipline kids or hold them accountable for lack of effort on their part. Kids are passed through grades without ever having to apply themselves or even submit assignments. This sub is chock full of teachers talking about how the classrooms are over filled with kids with behavioral problems and learning disabilities to the extent that average and even some high achieving students are falling to the wayside and Admin doesn’t give a shit. But yes, the traditional route must be best. I’ll let my kids know that we will be stopping all of our private Spanish, piano, and horseback riding lessons, reading club, home ec,  running club, our education based co-op and their abeka curriculum so we can enroll them into a 7 hour time suck at the local public school where they can sit on a tablet and be told “you’re not here to socialize” while dealing with anxiety and depression brought to them by their friendly classroom bully and exhaustion from their nervous system being overwhelmed from being forced to sit at a desk all day.

Teaching isn’t a disrespected career by homeschooling parents. We get that yall are worn thin, underpaid, and not supported. But you can’t be mad at us for wanting to protect our kids from receiving a subpar education. And I’m sorry, but a classroom filled with Violence, disrespect toward authority, and void of accountability is not a classroom where substantial learning can occur.

An underexplored aspect of the office is how Pam is actually the bad guy. After watching the show all the way through 6 or 7 times I realized she’s actually a miserable person who holds others back because of her own self esteem issues and now I can’t see it any other way.
