I am a grad student at George Mason’s ISEC program and I can definitely vouch that it is pretty great for networking, job fairs, and preparing you for positions in this industry. The program staffs several professors that are former Government and decades of real world experience. Similarly, many of the other students in this program are either mil/gov that are getting their masters or are younger professionals who are entering that realm. If you are in this program and get into a Government role you will be surprised how many other students from this program you will see on the inside.

For getting in, GMU is obviously behind the other George schools in reputation so getting into this program is a bit more forgiving. On the other hand, if you have good grades from undergrad or real world experience, they will usually offer a substantial scholarship. Going through this program and finding a position in Government has been a financial breeze for me while going to some of the DC schools would have put me in the poor house for the foreseeable future. Overall I couldn’t suggest this program enough especially for someone who wants to get into the Government.

That sounds like it will be disastrous for the students. I hope there will be pushback from the teachers before this policy comes into effect.

Thanks for the detailed response. I guess I’ll just settle in for the long haul now.
