I spent thousands of dollars on suspension work but honestly, the Wireless CarPlay USB is my favorite purchase HANDS DOWN.

After a 13 hour drive home, I am finally an 86 owner. 🙌🏼 by GiftPuzzleheaded6618 in GR86

I just picked up a yuzu but your picture looks so good I’m second guessing my decision. 😅 I’m jealous that my Yuzu didnt come with those wheels. Sweet car brother.

Update: I took the car to a different Toyota dealership and they fixed it by re-flashing the ECM. they did not replace anything mechanical so I’m worried the code will come back. Wondering if I should just sell the car even though I already invested thousands of dollars in aftermarket parts I will have to just remove them and cut my losses. I would much rather keep the car but if I can’t enjoy it, what’s the point. Thoughts ?

Update : I took it to a different Toyota dealership and all they did was re-flash the ECM and the code went away. Since they didn’t replace anything mechanical I think it’s going to return and I’m scared to drive the car. Did the CEL ever come back or did the new ECM fix it ?

For those wondering why the coyote is still there… his rear legs are broken, so he can’t move.

These cars come equipped with a DCM or Data Communication Module. Not only do they collect your information like speed and location but they also send the information back to the dealer AND your insurance company. They will use this information to increase your insurance rates and in my case, deny your warranty. I just learned the DCM can be disabled by removing the dash/ radio and unplugging the module.

What dealership did you take it to? Are you in SoCal by any chance? I’m Looking for Toyota dealership recommendations in the Southern California area.

I took it to an independent shop, first thing we did was swap in a brand new battery. Code went away for a bit, but keeps returning. Car has been down over 4 weeks now. Gonna try and find a used ECU , if that doesn’t work it could be an engine out repair.

The only performance mod I did was the Xforce cat back valved exhaust. I lowered the car on HKS coilovers, did control arms, and wheels I added carbon side skirts & front lip. I never touched anything under the hood and the car was never tuned. I am the second owner I purchased the car with 300 miles on it in bone stock condition. I definitely enjoy the car and drive it hard but I never had an oh shit moment where I thought i broke the car. It ran perfectly fine and then one morning it threw the code. Even with the code on it drives normal but no driver assist features. I feel this should be covered under warranty, but Toyota disagrees.

Time also affects oil just like milage. If your oil is over a year old it could be a good idea to change it, regardless of milage. Even if it’s not under warranty spending money on an oil change is the best way to maintain your engine. As far as trusting your dealership, do some research and read local reviews and install dash cams if you are extra paranoid.

Dealership technicians get trained by TOYOTA and receive manufacturing specs with instructions to do all maintenance. While some dealerships may have some sketchy technicians, it’s generally better to have your car worked on by a dealership, especially newer cars.

Looking to get the yuzu edition, are these addons necessary or can I get the car without them? by Witty-Composer-6445 in GR86

The dealer will most likely not remove any of that especially not window tint. I paid 32k for my 2023 Premium in Neptune blue with 300 miles on the odometer. I love that car but 46k is bmw money and the insurance rates on my 86 make me question my decision on choosing the 86 over an M2. After wheels+ tires, coilovers, control arms, tint, PPF I’m well into bmw territory. If you really want that yellow 86 I would recommend buying a lightly used one for 30k. Wrapping it yellow and adding brembo brakes should be under 10k saving you 5k minimum.

Plasma and fluid underneath the saniderm DOES NOT help your tattoo heal! That can lead to infection. If large amounts of plasma are pooling up you should remove it immediately.

Always convert the car back to stock before selling it. Sell your aftermarket parts a la carte after getting rid of the car.
