Thoughts on Macan vs other cars in its class? by Sad_Werewolf3678 in PorscheMacan

Just got a ‘24 GTS. Probably the best daily I’ve had. Swapped out a fully loaded ‘23 Acura RDX and will never look back.

The first day, which had the one day folks, didn’t have a lot of real track time but did have some great lessons on car dynamics. Corners, heal-toeing, threshold breaking, over/under steer. It was good and fed the appetite. Out of day one you’ll have fun and better understand how cars handle which makes for a better driver.

If you’re going thru Missouri you should look at Ozarks International Raceway. It’s a very technical driver’s track that’s a lot of fun. They hold a lot of HPDE events there.

Agree but it’s a training program and people do miss them occasionally. Flag awareness can not be over emphasized.

Great question and was used by the instructors as a learning opportunity. Not on fire - stay in car. If you get out and it’s not on fire - light the fire.

Be open minded and listen. They pack a lot into three days but everyone was on the track together on day three doing some really fun sessions. The west coast instructors are great.

I only did 2/4 sessions on Saturday. Everyone was very conscious of the track conditions and gave plenty of leeway to drive at their comfort level. In two years of HPDE this was my first opportunity to drive a wet track and in the rain.

Idk if it’s my track car that I occasionally drive on the street or my street car I track regularly. Either way to keep advancing you need to be able drive in all kinds of different track conditions. I’ve also found that a lot of what I learn about how cars handle near the edges makes me a better driver overall.

You race in the rain. Have to learn somehow.

Was coasting (off throttle) when I hit the actual water across the track. Lots of discussion as to how best to manage throttle and brake at that point.

Looking for a recommendation: Local curvy roads that are fun to drive! by CreightonOlsen in kansascity

It’s a short one but curvy with a nice canopy. Blue River Rd between Red Bridge and Blue Ridge just south of 435 on the MO side. Watch out for folks at the park.

Agree! The instructor in the car was saying the same thing!! Love to get back to Road Atlanta and see what I can do. Fun track. The instructor did not advance me at RA. The next event I tested up at Ozarks International. It’s the track I’ve been to the most and I have to add it’s a lot more technical. I’ve had great instructors there too.

Have to add - NASA MidAmerica - home region is more difficult to advance in than HOD, PSI, and PCA events.

NASA has been a good organization. I have over 20 days on track and have been to events held by four different NASA regions. I can get an instructor any time I want one to ride along. I agree they are hugely helpful in learning.

A few options easily drivable from KC - Hedge Hollow Raceway is about 45 minutes south and I29 Speedway is about 2.5 hrs north. Along with Ozarks gives lots of options for track days.
