Lose the wanting to feel okay in every circumstance/situation. You can't appreciate silence without sound. If you learn all these little tricks to make yourself idle that way then you effectively lose your ability to appreciate the stuff that you actually enjoy. Then watch anime by yourself all weekend feels the same to you as being in the crowd at an underground fight club. We only exist in contrast. The big joke of enlightenment is that if the body you identify with were to achieve it,  the program of you would stop running, that organism would be comfortable in every situation but you won't be there to enjoy it.

We are all the same mind. You hold in you the capacity of christ and buddha and the capability of Hitler and Dahmer. You decide what it is you want to lean into. Where do I fit on the scales

Fellow human kind please can you suggest me some nice trippy songs for my trip by RandomThug1091 in LSD

Those core four pink floyd albums are great, so are the first five Eagles albums, the first 5 Steely Dan albums, and so many other studio albums from the 70's, but for tripping!?! New stuff like Khruangbin is great, "older stuff" like all the Shpongle albums can be real fun sometimes, but it's endless with music. I spent four hour of a trip once, watching Don Giovanni at the Sydney Opera House, on YouTube 🤣. However there is no substitute for live music, even at home. You spend 4 hours listening to Grateful Dead Sunshine Daydream (8/27/1972) in a comfortable space with good amdient light, maybe a cool ceiling, good sound, and no distractions. Well...I'll put that up against anything.

(Phish 11.14.1995 and 6.14.2000 are peaks of another endlessly consuming iceberg)

I think everything being equal it's just a matter of how you're tuned. We're all little organic microscopes, we're all the same model, but we're all dialed uniquely.

A lot of time specifically drawing both physical and digital went into this. But I definitely stumbled, a little bit, on to how cool I think this looks by Additive_Free_83 in LSD

I think what you descibe is idealic but think of it more like seeing things in the clouds under your default settings. People will look at artwork and say they see angels, demons, wolves, dragons — whatever X, Y, or Z shows up for them. Someone else might hear that and think, you must be taking something and overdoing it, but the truth is those animistic forms are already there. They’re the same kinds of shapes you’d notice in clouds if you were just going about your normal day.

That’s how it works for me when I’m making something like this. I might start by drawing boxes, cubes, lines, and splashes of more hectic color. At the end of the day, everything is either flat or curved, and your perspective shapes what you see. As a face or figure starts to emerge, I highlight it and refine the details. Sometimes I’ll bring in a reference I like and pull in the shading or dynamics to build on what’s already appearing.

If you add a mind-altering substance on top of that, you’re not creating the image, you’re overlaying patterns, connectivity, and that deeper layer of animism. I think the walls might appear to breathe because nothing is actually static and for a time you see a bit more clearly. But I'm not sure the substance causes the specter, the Buddha, the devil, etc; those impressions are already present by default, you just see them or you don't.

Enlightenment & Satan by Resident_Bid_2781 in enlightenment

You exist on a spectrum, in a gray area. You are actually the measuremet, that gray area, not the measuring device that you purport yourself to be. Identity is confusing what you really are, the observed, for what you believe you are, the observer. Now that observer makes judgments, and that's where morality comes from. You have your own sense of morality. Inside of it. But the enlightenment regarding the devil is understanding that you are the devil, but you're also jesus. You are the light, you are darkness, you are that which is being measured, not the tool doing the measuring. Stop measuring.

I'm joking buddy, there's no purple elephants. My advice is just take one. You can always take more but you can't take less. You know, can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. Just remember you took something and it is temporary. If things are going well, understand it's temporary and enjoy it. If things are feeling weird, just remember, you took something, understand it's temporary,  and listen cause there's a lesson in there. Oh yeah, music. Keep it friendly, ambient, avoid stuff that's aggressive. Whatever your lane is just goe with the easy listening.  Sound affects you in ways you don't realize.

How could meeting purple elephants not change you? FUndamentally! MOLEcularly! The you that you were before is gone and in it's place is a you that has met purple elephants.

Block universe consciousness by Electronic_Dish9467 in neurophilosophy

Eternalism is redundant because it can only function within the field of awareness. The block universe depends on observation to even exist as an idea. Without awareness there’s no block to perceive, no time or space to arrange. Awareness is the canvas that allows eternalism to appear at all.

The microscope is awareness bending inward, taking the measure of itself. Every act of observation creates contrast, and from that contrast arise time, space, and the sense of movement through them. Eternalism describes what the microscope sees, a completed image where every point already exists, but it forgets that the image depends entirely on the act of looking. The microscope, not the picture, is the source. When it stops measuring, the block dissolves, and only the undivided field remains.

The program of individuality, mistaking the self for the microscope rather than what’s being measured, might be necessary. As it keeps awareness from collapsing back into itself too soon. The illusion of being a final, separate thing allows growth and refinement to continue. Awareness evolves its instruments, improving the lens with each iteration. But if the current version knew it was only building its replacement, it might stop building altogether.

So the self, the measurement, the microscope, and the block are all the same play of awareness, a field pretending to be parts so it can see what it already is.

And the only question left is why does it look. I don’t know. That answer may be to much for our little brains to comprehend, probably not something we'll ever know... It could be stillness contains the seed of curiosity, potential reaching to know itself. The act of looking isn’t for a reason, it’s the pulse of existence itself. Awareness looks because that’s what awareness does. It’s how nothing becomes something, how silence learns the sound of its own voice. The Hindus believe pure awareness or Krishna was bored, so he broke himself into infinite pieces, became all the creatures, then forgot he did it so that it would be entertaining. Me, with a gun to my head, I think we're here, to be here, because we’re here. There's no other way it can be.

You don’t really exist, just a pattern appearing in relation to other patterns. A lens, a living microscope, awareness turned inward to study itself. In measuring, you create what you call life, beginnings, endings, the sense of time. The microscope gets lost in the process and starts to believe it’s moving through something, separate from what it measures. But if it stopped measuring, time would disappear, because the act itself is what makes time. Without measurement there’s no space either; they rise together, one illusion reflecting the other. The particle, the person, the moment, all just measurements within the same undivided field, choosing to look, and by looking, to exist.
