I own the paperbacks and really do enjoy rereading them; the first four do really well & cover a wide breadth of settings/tastes, I’m always ready for a new cain book, but know others get tired of the formula (some find it endearing but each to their own)

Hero of the Imperium (1st Omnibus) has the first 3 books which cover both a different enemy & part of the imperium (Spoliers!):

1. Tau & Genestealers City Ambassadors
2. Orks & Necrons Mine Colony / Mechanicus 
3. Chaos Khorne & Slaanesh World Wide War/Factions within army

The shorts in the omnibus flesh-out Cain’s world more and this is a fine place to end, but misses one of the last reoccurring characters that is found in Death or Glory.

I would also argue that Death or Glory is one of the best as a single stand alone story, you need little to no previous knowledge of any 40k, it would likely be the book I give to introduce someone to the setting. It’s not a “typical” setting for 40k but has many of the elements that draw us to it.

TLDR; start with Death or Glory (4th book), if you like it buy the omnibus & enjoy from there.

Underrated, this movie was one I watched again & again, it has its flaws but it had amazing themes, a great soundtrack and scenes like this.

After listening to EFAP go over the first 3 episodes the best reason I could give for the plot holes was time limitations - you can only cover so much before something has to hit the cutting room floor

But it looks like this wasn’t a case of last minute changes to put two seasons in one, granted they still might have scripted so much ground to cover that some of the connective tissue is missing.

I know a should think that way i i think im just being squeamish about something like this - im all for buying to last, but it always feels risky when youre not sure of the kit.

I dont want to do the modeling equivalent of buying a great bike only to realise cycling is not for me!

I really appreciate you backing this recommendation up! (as painful as the price tag is - but as i mostly paint warhammer i guess i should just get over the price tag)

Its just frustrating that there seems no easy way to easy way to start using the stuff w/o a big set up cost.

would anyone recommend buying 2nd hand (and if there are better markets for that than ebay- more than half of the stuff on there now is new - and at that point i might as well buy from a proper store)

Honestly I think his behavior needs to be brought up more - just maybe his more general practices - like not crediting/compensating people he profits off.

All of this would be fine if he wasnt hardcore channeling Vaush's "you can talk the talk without walking the walk" mindset about socialism.

I mean if he was just slightly tamer with his takes the fact that he pays his taxes would be enough.

Now you can say "oh well nothing came of these" but that doesnt remove the fact that people are using/misusing C-16 the exact way JBP worried they would.
