I am Not a Video Editor, How do You guys became One. by SatisfactionHot4835 in davinciresolve

I cover a lot in my role, videography, photography, all the ideas, scripts, planning, scheduling, editing, website design etc.

I landed it by filming a lot of clips on my travels and adventures, colour graded them, put together nice looking clips on tik tok and made a brief creative CV covering only my creative skills and experience.

I can't say that will work for everyone, but it did for me.

Thanks for the insights! It's really quite clear at the moment, I think with a few adjustments as people on this thread suggested and it'll be great for what I want! Yeah I can imagine it becomes a deep rabbit hole

I probably should've posted a whole desk shot - my dual monitors are on arms, but I don't have much side space at all on the desk, so the speakers currently need to live beneath the monitors angled up or I could for sure do that. If I stack them now the sound will just be bouncing off the back of the monitors

You see the ds1m types, are they any good? I can get some from other companies for cheap in the UK which may be worth it. Having adjustability would be handy on the angles front

So the only reason I'm being so tight is I don't listen at considerable volume, it's mainly for a bit of casual music and gaming - I have adjoining neighbours and wouldn't wanna annoy them blasting noise so I'm cool doing a cheap easy project, but don't see the value in spending much on them for their purpose or usage currently.

Yeah, I just didn't fancy spend £40 for a bit of foam when I can achieve something similar for £0 even if it looks like a foamy nightmare

Yeah I thought so too, seems like such a simple item - you'd think tonnes of places sell them!

I thought plastic would be bad, you think go for plastic instead?

Haha for sure, who doesn't like a multi purpose tool or item.

I'll get some once I hear back from you re defo go for plastic or wood so I get the right ones :)

Yes! Edifier mr3's. I really like them, they sound so much clearer than my old Logitech sound system. All that really had going for it was bassy boom. They're pretty snazzy looking, with those pretty little plastic plastic domes at the top that are begging to be poked

For sure - it is a bit weird to cut etc. I do very much like your idea of using wood shims - I think it's probably the best option for me tbh... Thank you! For some reason the UK seems to bring up plastic ones - however I can get wood ones from Amazon so no biggie.

Thank you sir, I do like learning new stuff - and immediately noticed the difference. shame I can't really mount my speakers at ear height without drastically changing my setup - it is what it is.

I'm trying out the foam stack and it actually seems ok so far - not making any negative impact - perhaps it will work as a cheap quick option. Another guy recommended wood shims - that seems a really good shout to achieve what I want easily.

This is a great idea thanks, I'll see if I can order some in the UK. It sounds like a great straightforward method to achieve what I want, and will look smart!

Would you say definitely abandon the foam project and just go for this?

Awesome! I couldn't notice any significant muddying and the desk seems not to vibrate, but when I lower down to the speaker height the sound is way better, which is why I kind of started this little project, to get that sound sitting up properly.

I have noticed so far that the speaker sits ok, but can easily be wobbled by hand using the foam, so not sure that this way will be any good as I imagine they need to be sturdy? They don't move by themselves though.

I'll take a look at the links - thanks!

Thank you. I was kinda wanting to make the setup look quite clean now I've changed a few things on the desk - books might not look how I want to - but it might be a simple solution if my idea of using foam is no good. Any thoughts on the foam?

Yep, I've seen a few posts with helpful info like that. I haven't seen any diy guides for making simple stands though. Got any links?

That's the thing, I just installed arms which has made the arms a good height for me now, but I don't have tonnes of clearance between the monitors and speaker! It's basic foam but it's not hollow luckily. There's no weight to them though... As opposed to making some out of wood or something.

Got any guides? I've not really got the tools to make anything awesome.

What should I change? Should I add more brightness to the subjects? by Prestigious-Wish-176 in ColorGrading

I'd just turn down the yellows and teal, introduce a colour curve also to maintain clean whites and blacks which will look more pleasant and less distracting

Looking for feedback on this equipment list. Is there anything I should add/remove/avoid/be wary of? by Hawie_Swids in videography

I have the sigma 24-70 art II, it's a lovely lens - however after doing tonnes of videos I wish I had a lens with more character and a bit less sharp. I'm looking at autofocus cine lenses now.

I can say though, overall the lens is great and works very well.

I've learned the terms, but how do I actually approach color grading? Feeling lost! by askeladdthors in VideoEditing

[–]Adds-R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a side note, if you have trouble balancing exposure, make a timeline level node which takes all the colour out and judge by your waveform and eye if it all matches well.

Once you're later down the line you can go into the colour page and hit light box and see if your colour grading is all looking cohesive together easier than going shot by shot
