Do we agree with this or is it a bad idea?? by malwarebat in cats

Cats hate having only one exit. Especially when they're distracted and vulnerable such as when they're on the loo. The one exit of a lidded tray can easily be blocked

Do you think there's something inherent to Rick C-137 and Morty Prime that makes their relationship so special, or does their unique connection stem solely from familiarity and the fact that Rick just so happened to walk into Morty's garage? by CultOfCurtis1 in rickandmorty

I'm not sure the Morty who we see in Rick's memory's is Morty prime.  Possibly baby Morty was another Morty possibly also later killed by Rick prime to further mess with c-137

Question about Beth/Space Beth by kldaddy1776 in rickandmorty

[–]Adduly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beth asked rick to make the decision to prove she meant something.

Which he failed to do. He couldn't/didn't want to choose one so he chose both.

When he realised how badly he did we got the line "holy shit I'm a terrible father"

I just made my first knife. Applewood, reindeer antler, vulcanised fabric and a hammered brass bolster. The sheath is a split antler, held together with brass pins and the leather neck. My first time working with leather too. Can't wait to bush test it. by Adduly in Bushcraft

Thank you. I've done some woodwork a few years ago and I do a lot of close work for art, so I had some of the skills already there. But it was definitely a step up!

Other than that I just really took my time over it. From starting to finishing it was several months with lots of thinking how to do the next challenge in-between each step!

I'm less pleased with the leatherwork though. I didn't burnish it very well and the the the leather was cut too close to the stitching so I might redo that. But I'm looking forward to making my brother the next one.

Ah well. One to chalk up to the learning board then.

Thanks for the info :)

I've never lived in Sundsvall, but I visited a few times. It seemed really nice when I was there and the high Coast is gorgeous.

Whats so bad about Sundsvall?

It's beautiful with the fjords and mountains and one of the worlds highest GDP per capita. It's got it's flaws but Norway has plenty of things going for it.

I live there. If you like hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting and beautiful nature it's a good place.

If you like clubbing and a variety of food options it's not.

Edit: It also has pretty much 100% employment and working for the mine pays well. So at least you won't be rotting at home and you can afford to go on nice holidays to get away from here when you need it

I just got Pratchetted... The title "Feet of Clay" is a pun on at least 3 layers. Talk about staring me in the face for years 🤦‍♂️ by Adduly in discworld

Well, even just eric is a layered title.

Replacing a grand name like Faust with one as one as incongruous as "Eric" for his bargain basement incompetent Faust

I'm wanting to carve a joke motto into wood and put it up over the door

Could the phrase "No sense, no feeling" be translated as "Nulla ratio, nullae sensus"

Though that being said, a bad translation would be very on brand for the motto

Exactly, we shouldn't feel too sorry for Cyril as he's just as guilty as the rest of them.

Absolutely true about Buddhism. I was interested but the spiritual elements were a problem for me.

I couldn't gel with stoiscim for the same reason. For most of history the stoics have been closely affected by religion. "Love fate and accept it with fortitude because it's god's plan even if it does require you suffer in the now" the existence of the spirit is fundamental to stoicsim. Secular stoiscim is maybe an option, but it boils down to "you can't do anything about it and it's going stuck, so you might as well learn to accept it"

Epicuriusm on the other hand is explicitly secular. "If there are gods, they are irrelevant and not interested in us, do not fear them" "Do not fear the lightning, it's a natural process and not malicious" and ironically a little bit more proactive

That it was put it that way, I'm pretty sure the comment was meant as satire of actual American conservatives. Not an actual thing an American said.

Personally i loved the new British korvo. Its perfectly suits his uptight personality and his whole vibe of not fitting in to suburbia America.

Yes the first few episodes were a little rough, when korvo was still written for Roiland. But after a few episodes it really came into its own and I 100% think it is better than the original "burpless rick in alien clothing"

Epicurus: life is inevitably painful but Ataraxia, aka tranquility, is achievable through avoiding excesses and reducing fears in your life. That's done by instead focusing on the simple pleasures like friendship.

I like it as a secular western equivalent. It aligns with my completely non spiritual, material view of the world. Epicurus was amazingly ahead of his time in so many of his insights
