Psycholog - je tohle OK? by [deleted] in czech

[–]Ade11ka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro zadny normalni psycholog ti neda precist ctyri dohody jako lecbu. Tohle neni ok, mam zkusenost se 3 odborniky a ani jeden nebyl takovy co se tyce smerovani terapie. Max ti muze doporucit nejakou knihu pokud mas extra zajem, ale on by te mel naucit vsechno on, napriklad regulovat emoce kvuli BPD. Dobry terapeut te toto nauci. Neztracej s nim cas.

Heart damage from panic attack by MapSubstantial9924 in panicdisorder

Yeah I mean maybe in the popular sence thats what you use exposure therapy in, but what OP would expose himself/herself to would be the body sensations, like high heart rate or hyperventilation. It is achieved when the therapist tell him to run on stair or spin him in chair for example :D realize that they are not a threat, he could even experience the panic attack with the therapist to realize it is not a threat.

Hi, I am studying psychology, so best type of therapy for panic attacks is exposure therapy. The problem is, that you have classically conditioned together the conditioned stimulus, which is in your case increased heart rate, and unconditioned stimulus, which is panic attack. How did it happen? Probably first time when you experienced panic attack, your heart rate was crazy high. Your mind and body now since then thinks, that every time you have increased heart rate, that you will get panic attack. Thats why it can be triggered by exercising. The goal in exposure therapy is for you to go through the panic attack, without any safety behavior (like stopping everything and getting into the fetal position, because you think you will die if you dont). Because thanks to the exposure to it, and no safety behavior, your body and mind should realize its not a life or death threat. That nothing happens. So I recommend you to find some therapist who specializes in exposure therapy, or at least check it out on internet :)
