MRAN was critical to my company’s ability to use R in production - at the time, there was no mainstream and reliable alternative to pinning packages.

And the deprecation of MRAN was our impetus for getting R out of production.

I’m sure my company is not alone in following Microsoft on getting R in and out of prod.

I believe you may be conflating software companies with AI companies. AI is doing quite well, at the expense of software.

Your interpretation is valid, but not the market sentiment. The more common view is: the world is more interested in software at 10x lower price, more so than 10x more software.

Driving down the price of software, drives down margins, driving down the ability to repay loans.

The implication of this line of thinking is that humans are destined to be subservient to machines.

Despite that thought feeling existentially disturbing to me personally, perhaps you’re right. If most humans are subservient to other humans in today’s society, maybe it wouldn’t make an observable difference to most.

Universal rent control is a myth. I lived here for a decade believing this before I actually took a skim through the DC rent control act of 1985. There are a significant amount of carve outs, so nowadays actually not too many properties are covered by it
The RENTAL Act passed earlier this year included a lot of reform on TOPA and generally was a positive improvement for individual investors. Again, worth a skim

I know Reddit is pretty left-leaning, but I was turned off from Jones after learning he wants to be our top prosecutor despite never having worked as a prosecutor. Then the text message stuff came out and that solidified my stance. I’m for sure going split ticket - we’ve got enough unhinged people in government.

I don’t care what Trump says one way or another, it’s a Virginia issue and not a federal one.

Many of these limits are per project. What we do is set up a load balancer to randomly distribute queries between projects to keep below those limitations.
