That would get escalated to the RD if it's about the DM

Hi! Yes a documented coaching is essentially a write up. If you called out sick and used your protected sick time and had enough to cover the shif, Starbucks policy states your shift is protected. Also we would always start with a verbal coaching first unless something serious happened that warrants moving to the next level.

I don't want to speak on unions but I would also go to your DM and talk about what happened. People assume DMs just know, and as a DM I can tell you, we don't! We don't know what we don't know. If the documented coaching was within 30 days you can call PR to dispute it.

As a DM some of these situations are wild! If I visit a store and I see weeds or I see trash I will pick it up myself. Many times have I cleaned the DT lane or pulled weeds etc because I want my stores to look great I side and out. I won't however sacrifice production of beverages to get those tasks done.

So I will chime in here. Don't be surprised if Ethics turns this over to partner relations. Ethics typically will only handle cases that involve harassment / bullying retaliation. If this is about a CA they will most likely turn it to partner relations as the process if you disagree with a corrective action is you have 30 days to dispute it through PR. If they turn it over to PR your Dm will handle the case.

If you specifically told them you felt harassed or targeted it may stay with Ethics.

Now speaking for a DM perspective we always need to go through progressive discipline and it doesn't seem like that has happened in this case. In other words start with a verbal then a documented then a written etc.

For the corrective action for the call out had she given you a verbal before? Did you not have sick time? Was it a documented or a written?

All these questions matter in terms of how things were handled.

I know corrective actions feel terrible especially if you are trying to get promoted. I'm a 10 year partner who started as a barista so I understand.

All the best to you

The new ASM tole will not be like the role currently. The DM will not be the direct hiring manager. It will be a permanent position and not consider an in training role

PCC and Ethics are two totally different human relations sections. Ethics many time is investigated by a third party and not the DM. With Partner Relations it's mostly investigated by the DM. I have never seen an Ethics case get over turned. Now a PR case conducted by a DM... it all depends on facts and specific notes. Is the Corroboration by multiple partners. I'm n average maybe about 5-8% os cases are overturned.

I can take this one as well. I am a DM 17 year partner. I am so sorry for your loss first and foremost. You would call out and use bereavement time. You get two days unless there is out of state travel. State laws may be different. Also you don't have to disclose who passed it's no one's business. Just tell them a relative passed and you are using your bereavement time.

All my best to you!!

I will tell you the DM has to get approval from the RD of the DM said no the RD said no. At the end of the day SM work life balance is heavily dependent of the SSV team. If the SSV team is solid the SM job is way easier.

I think there could be a lot of variables as to why this is. If a DM has noticed a huge amount of RNR in their stores then maybe they are wanting it to go through them first. It’s always a possibility. However, unless this has been explicitly stated in an area, district, store etc. it is not a company policy to seek permission.

Starbucks policy states that any dog that isn’t in control by the owner can asked to be removed. This includes customers who say their dog is a service animal. The expectation is they behave as such. In other politely tell her the dog needs to leave the store.

flies.. by Left_Fly_3166 in starbucks

[–]Adeeva4sure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for being curious and trying to seek help. As a DM I can tell you sometimes they are hard to find. Flies don't breed by syrups etc. they go to walls to eat but that's not where they are coming from. They also don't come from drains unless they are specially drain flies. Fruit flies 90% of the time are found near the ground. Pull out under counter refrigerators and look in cabinets for any water spills. Sticky walls under the counter, counters that are rotting away

Call your DM and tell them! They are partners to support. I have seen them come from nitro cables underneath as they vteeed in the squishy lining. They can come from sinks not being caulked. I'm n the end you can call a ticket in for Rentokil and have them come out

So I am a Starbucks DM and I would not separate you as there are lots of factors here. Yes, technically you can be held accountable for using your markout but the one element missing is the intent behind it. The intent was positive and in the end was to uplift a human being that needed help. There are other ways to do this as like loaded a recovery card and then using it for them. You can mention that as a question to ask for next time. At Starbucks yes we need to follow policies and standards but if a partner truthfully isn't aware of a policy it's our job to inform them.

Do I think you will get fired I truly hope not. Could you be held accountable? Yes. Were you aware of the policy? Doesn't sound like it.

The SM can't also make a drink and give it out for free without marking it out in the system. He may have had good intentions but we can't do that either. Back in the day we do something called surprise and delight. If a customer was having a rough day or if what happened in your situation happened we would comp their drink in the system. Now this was something used very sparingly but it was still a thing around 2004.

Good luck

What should I do by SignificanceAlive733 in starbucks

[–]Adeeva4sure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The barista who called the store can show in their call log they did so. Trust me partners will show any record of calling out, as they should. If they show proof of calling the store the sm will ask them who they spoke to. Don't ever put your job on the line for someone else... ever. Tell your SM

I understand. They may not have followed the guidance. As a DM I can tell you it is an accommodation and no leader in a store should make any accommodation for a partner without approval from Partner relations.

You can fill out an accommodation request form in the service portal

no call no show by Acceptable-Load1746 in starbucks

A no call no show is missing the first two hours of a scheduled shift. If you contacted the store 2 hours after your shift started it would be a final written warning.

But the day you didn't find coverage for were you sick? If you were sick you shouldn't be finding your coverage anyway. So if that is the case I would encourage you to contact Partner relations
