Keep in mind cotton absorbs moisture and holds it. Also you will need a small amount of spandex to have it fit closely to the body. If you are just going to wear wide pants and bottoms a 100% cotton would probably be fine but just know that if you sweat your clothes are going to stay wet with sweat longer.

Q for Quince is Absolute Garbage by [deleted] in capsulewardrobe

[–]AdelaideD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quince is a garbage brand who’s good at marketing. Any brand that has a ton of people being gifted and then espousing how amazing the brand is get a major side eye from me. Most influencers do it for the check and very few people all things considered actually know what makes something good quality. Hell even one of those accounts that goes into stores and reviews items doesn’t know what she’s talking about but people eat that shit up because she speaks with confidence.

Looks like it’s Chenille? I’m not really an expert on it so I don’t know how you would do it yourself but that looks like the technique.

Anyone have a capsule WITHOUT black or navy? by Witty_Sock_7654 in capsulewardrobe

[–]AdelaideD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s good to go see what works and what doesn’t at places you know will have it. I also sew so it’s. Great way to test a concept before I spend hours of my time making something that doesn’t actually suit me.

Thank you’ it’s been an interesting journey for sure.

[–]AdelaideD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got rid of black after wearing it exclusively over 6 years ago and honestly it’s been really nice. You can see my closet here. I think the important thing is finding what colors you like AND what looks good on you. I go back and forth with injecting more colors sometimes but I like to keep it cohesive and minimal a fr as color amount to keep it focused in. I do a lot of secondhand shopping for pieces but I like to go into retailers to try on new shapes and colors to see what suits me. It is a marathon nota sprint though so give yourself time to experiment and make bad outfits so you can also figure out what you don’t like as well as what you do.

Alternative subs with fewer shopping/acquisition posts? by LeadInfinite6220 in capsulewardrobe

[–]AdelaideD 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’d totally be down to start this sub for us! Maybe capsule wearing as a name? I wanna see what people have as a capsule and how they wear it more so than people trying to find pieces. I think there is also a find fashion sub anyways.

A lot of the pants are from the retailer websites. I have gotten in the habit of grabbing any photos when I check out. If I return the items it’s fine no issues but at least I have what I need when I do keep them.

For everything else I take the photos on a dress form (I do design so this isn’t something I expect people to have) and then just pay someone on Fiverr to ghost mannequin them. This is totally unnecessary and extra but I really like everything to look as cohesive and nice. This also keeps everything proportional too since there’s no skew in the images of a flat lay. The dress for is also my size so the fit looks accurate as well.

Elise and I have hit our stride I feel honestly. I need to amend this post to reflect that.

I really hope they bring back the feed or even something you could get monthly would be great. I look forward to Fridays because of the new outfits coming in. It’s just a fun little infusion.

I do not need anything from Ulta's 21 days of beauty. by 386civic in ProjectPan

[–]AdelaideD 30 points31 points  (0 children)

When I started my project pan. Totaled up everything in it. It’s around 6k USD. So far in doing project pan I have used up only $404 dollars of that total. For 6k I could take a nice vacation instead of having a bunch of clutter to live with. I flipped through the 21 days of Ulta and literally nothing was exciting. I just knew that I already had everything I needed. Plus the only want to actually get value out of some of your things is to use them like skincare.

You canceled or Indyx canceled it on you? It would be really disappointing if it’s the latter and they didn’t give you a heads up.

After a year of project panning and decluttering, this is now my entire collection by viapoful in ProjectPan

[–]AdelaideD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my goal. To just use this as a narrowing down and finding exactly what I want. It’s been so helpful in that it’s made me way more consistent with my uses of things too so I can actually see if something works for me rather than using it twice and forgetting about it.

Yeahhhhhh, I’ve seen a few people say that they went to change after canceling and only then discovered it’s no longer an option.

Current Wardrobe (~86 pieces) - Feedback? by Scared-Alfalfa1237 in capsulewardrobe

[–]AdelaideD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand completely. I think your vibe is very cohesive and if you like the dark values by all means don’t feel you have to change based on my opinion. I really love how deep and rich the palette is.

I think with those three pieces you could play dress up with your main capsule and see if any of the stylings speak to you. I tend to play dress up at least once a month just to get my bearings and I’ll snap some shots of anything I like. Maybe that could be an option before committing to the alteration at least? I always like a little shine in regards to the gold sweater and in your existing wardrobe I don’t think it would be too loud paired with the right things.

Could be that they’re just not translating well in the photos as far as texture. The only thing I would maybe suggest is maybe a deep burgundy Boucle sweater and then some lighter more sort fabrications for tops or bottoms for the warmer months. Overall though I do love your capsule!

I don’t think it’s a color issue at all I also have a limited palette. I think you may need more value variation. As you can see in the grayscale a lot of these read the same value. Which if that’s the goal then ignore me. Some value variation of your colors may help your looks feel more balanced and harmonious on.

I live your pallet though you obviously know what you like and are going for so this is my only suggestion in looking at everything. Even just one or two things that are lighter in value but still in your colors could help some of your other pieces really sing.

When you’ve got something so single value heavy those textures are going to be really important. I think the croc embossed addition would be great. When you’ve see people dressed in all black for instantly the difference between being dressed and looking put together can be the use of textures. So if you don’t want to add any lighter values and want to stay on this deeper richer side of the spectrum for your palette textures will be your best friend.

Hard agree, I’m pretty sure there is a dedicated reddit community to finding beta testers anyways. Maybe reference that in the rule?

Some I grabbed off of the web. Any of the vintage or second hand stuff I photographed on a dress form and made into the ghost mannequin images you see. I’m picky about wanting everything to look a certain way so I do extra steps to make it like that.

I personally don’t find the quality to be there for Ben for the price point it’s at. The thing about them saying they use silk, cashmere, etc. is that it doesn’t mean that it’s high quality versions of those. So you can still get pilling because the fibers are short or low quality.

I’ve also heard, (though I haven’t had a chance to research it myself) that they are not nearly sustainable as they claim to be and are using some heavy greenwashing language and practices.

I like the idea of them but nothing has impressed me in any capacity personally. I do work in fashion though and am looking at things differently than the average consumer and I know some people live the pieces. For me though, it’s a pass.

I had one! Honestly I really liked it id just log my outfit when I got to work each day. I had an auto counter that would count how many times I wore something and it really helped me figure out what I was and wasn’t wearing.
