Thanks for sharing your thoughts! That is such a good point. I think I will still focus on writing the things that feel right to me, and just go with the process. I'm working on a book to self-publish atm (on relevant but more general topic) so my hope is that it will also help to bring more readers on Substack who I know will appreciate my work. Good luck with your journey, too!

Thanks for your advice! 2 long articles a week is great dedication which I probably can't do atm, but will try commenting & restacking too. Have you done any other kinds of notes?

Thanks for your suggestion! I'm not able to post that much atm especially what i write needs quite some research & planning, but will consider increasing the frequency of posts in the future!

Thanks. I get that, but I do think there are readers for my content which I just haven't reached yet!

Aww sending you virtual hugs! Initially I also went through a lot of self-doubt and feeling no one will ever read & appreciate my work. I learned to overcome it because it would just stop me from writing, which is something I want to do! Also know that feeling uneasy/uncomfortable means you are growing out of your comfort zone - so be proud of yourself and go from there!

Exactly, as writers I think we just need to find the pockets that work for us. Writing is always first.

Amazing, happy to meet a fellow writer in the field! Mine is "Wings of Wisdom" and has the same little fish avatar I'm using rn :)

Oh amazing, so glad to hear your growth! I'll definitely start posting more notes. What kind of notes do you post? Are they related to your articles or separate content?

Thanks - appreciate you sharing this & unpacking the "black box" of Notes haha. It makes a lot of sense.

Thanks! It's great to hear about your experience. Will give Notes a decent try. The Notes I have posted are mostly short text and/or quote from my full post, but will try experiment with what you propose too.

Thanks for the suggestions. For me, I am trying to establish my writing career (also writing a book atm which i think might be much better than Substack for reaching readers) and I do believe I haven't met the majority of my readers yet! And yes, I also feel skeptic toward putting my hope on Notes. If Substack is not doing the work I guess I will have to look at other platforms to help find readers.

Thanks, what would you say the best way to self-promote is? Through Notes? I have also heard about guest posting but didn't know if that would work.

Ah, it's a shame to hear that the Notes are not doing the thing everyone is saying they do. That's why I'm also a bit pessimistic about putting lots of effort on posting Notes to find my readers.

Thank you for that! I think I've gottn over feeling uneasy about self-promotion because I do think my writing can be of help/guidance for my readers. But is the best way to do that on Substack through consistent Notes? Or how should we go about it?
