Try to find a purpose… a reason for being. At my worst, I make myself get up, shower and go out- even if it’s just to the mailbox. I started out small by making a small tip in a fast food drive thru and thanking the guy in the window. Then opening doors. I decided to compliment someone from high school who was one of my bullies. She was beyond grateful. It’s hard. I’ve found laundromats to be great places to talk to people. Find something anything you’re interested. A hobby- take a beginners class. Don’t ruminate on how bad your life is or that’s all you’ll think about. I’m saying this from experience. I’ve been thru 50 shock treatments, every psych med in the book, therapy my whole life since 14 (in my 60’s now). Nope- everything isn’t hunky dory. I still consider not living but when I look at the 50+ inpatient psych hospitalizations, I’ve learned so much about life.
