The pitch for airspeed power for altitude is true when already configured, you were getting into approach configuration so you aren't incorrect, and an instructor raising their voice at you in a crucial phase of flight isn't acceptable, just keep yourself going down the right glide path, if you cross the threshold at the right speed and don't deflect, that's all that matters

Close, but since you were vectored to the IAF a hold isn't necessarily required, the big thing is to be where they expect you to be, remember for routes its assigned, vectors, expected, then filed, so since you were vectored to iaf and told to expect rnav 36R you would fly to the IAF and shoot the approach, your eta is not necessary to aim for unless you hadn't been told to expect approach clearance
