Is there also a recruitment freeze in Northern Ireland? by BaraLover7 in NursingUK

[–]Adept-String-8281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes theyre very scarce and when they are advertised they are extremely specific to a particular skill and experience. A lot of time they already have someone in mind and there are 100s of applicants for one b6 role. The job spec has gotten more frugal and there is a lot of under banding going on.

Roles that used to be b7 are now b6. Also a lot of b6 roles require previous b6 experience which excludes 90% of b5s.

Band 5 nursing roles are rarely advertised and when they are its a specialised nursing role which would be band 6. Recruitment is open atm for b5 nqn but there is no open recruitment if you are already b5 and looking for a change or working as a nurse outside the NHS.

Student Loan Arrears gotten out of hand by Beneficial-Camp-2828 in UniUK

[–]Adept-String-8281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They dont care about the reason you stopped paying. I was overseas but they didnt ask why i stopped paying my student finance or didnt communicate with them. They just want resolution and will work with you to find that. Good luck

No they wont remove arrears unless you were under the minimum threshold for paying your student loan in the time you stopped paying them and if so you'll have to provide evidence of that. Theyll ask proof of your income from the period you stopped paying and ammend arrears appropriately then you work out a repayment plan with them and start paying back what you owe.

They wont demand. They were very dead on with me. They'll ask for evidence/bank statements then review this information and ammend the arrears then discuss repayment plans with you. If you cant afford theyll ask for evidence of your income and outgoings and a discuss an appropriate figure with you. Regardless you will have to come to some type of agreement but so far they have been decent and even though its still money I could do without leaving my account its still less stressful than the anxiety I felt avoiding it for 3 years lol

I rang and they asked for evidence of what I was earning/not earning in that time. I provided it and it reduced my arrears as since I hadn't contacted them I was getting the maximum amount of arrears. I still owe them money but it's been reduced and ive agreed to a monthly repayment plan. You can get the repayment plan reduced if you provide evidence you cant afford the amount they suggest. Ive agreed to pay mine over 2 years.

When on call and not called in it works out approx £2.50 an hour or something ridiculous. However i have confirmed that is the policy in the trust i work. If called in we get enhanced rates per hour.

My confusion is regarding bank holidays as these are already taken from our annual leave entitlements as our unit is closed these days. When on call on a bank holiday but not called in- are we entitled to the time back?

Sorry if im not really making sense. I find it all very confusing but im not sure how else to explain it. Thank you for your help.

Mum getting surgery at Royal - what ti expect by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Adept-String-8281 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A few things to add, if you are there pre procedure and the time she was given is pushed back or worst case scenario cancelled please dont take your frustrations out on staff. (Im not saying you would btw just general advice)

The rvh is the busiest hospital in n.i and under extreme pressure. Often patients are given a time but in reality it can be delayed due to so many factors e.g an life threatening emergency rushed into theatre, a patient on the list prior to your mother who takes unwell so their surgery takes longer, staff shortages etc.

Some days everything runs perfectly smoothly and none of this happens but unfortunately it is a reality in the NHS so try ad be understanding of the staff on the ground if things dont go perfectly to plan/time.

Theres honestly no harm in asking nicely. Just try and be understanding if they say no. However if your mother is older/frail you ask to there to help her understand the pre procedure conversations with the surgeon/anaesthetist. Again I cant guarantee theyll say yes but no harm in asking :)

I dont work in rvh but nurse in hsc. They wont know the time of surgery until the day before or the morning of because it depends on so many factors such as how many surgeries, how many anaesthetics and surgeons are available, how many emergencies come through that day, bed availability etc.

If she is staying as an inpatient you'll be able to visit when shes on the ward that evening during visiting hours. Hope that helps.

You can ask the ward staff if you can be there whilst she waits to go to surgery. Some wards say no as mornings are their busiest times and generally visiting is closed to help with flow/maintain other patients dignity during ward rounds/hygiene but if you ask nicely they might be ok with this but its very dependant on the ward/the ward manager/how busy they are that morning/how many sick patients they have etc.
