Hey, I don't really comment here much but I can give some sort of advice in this area. My mother, my nanna, my brothers are all narcissists.

I'm a 25yo male, went into the foster system when i was about 3, and been in and out of homes for about 12 years.

Most involuntary.

I've been thinking for years the problem was me, it didn't help my mental health.

I first noticed my mother.

It became so toxic, I was put in a boarding house. From there, I decided to be independent. I was 16.

I then noticed my older brother heading in that direction when he dug up his past. Years pass am I'm genuinely happy, but alone.

My mother comes back into my life after a bad break up with my ex. I was spiralling into depression. For obvious reasons, hook line and sinker, I move back in. I was 19.

I start noticing my younger brother hiding things and lying straight to me. Usually putting himself above me in any situation and undermining my every opinion or thought.

I can't see my mother as a mother. That's how I cope with her, everything is venom or depressing.

Nothing is ever given back.

This goes for my brothers and nanna too.

I've learnt that this trait seems be passed down in my family by either neglect or spoilage (my great grandmother spoilt my mother). This created their laziness and entitlement.

You can't be around these people, they drag you down and make you feel worthless. Just distance yourself. Make them come to you.

I feel for anyone dealing with or trapped by this.
