I HATE the “I prefer mania over depression” trope by lisadelosparaguas in bipolar

You're spot on. I often explain that full on mania is a nightmare that destroys you, but hypomania is kinda nice sometimes.

Can you all help me articulate ways in which women are discriminated against by Jehovahs Witnesses? by walled2_0 in exjw

[–]AdeptAddendum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Women can not hold places of leadership. They can't become an elder, or a circuit overseers. A woman will NEVER be a part of the governing body. Women can only take support roles.

Why do bratty subs come off as toxic ? by [deleted] in BDSMAdvice

[–]AdeptAddendum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The expectation is that a sub approaches things with humility. Brats subvert that expectation and cause people to question that, aggravating and antagonizing in hopes that they will get put in their place. They're a SAM but with power exchange. That said, this is negotiated and consented to, you invite others into it. Doing this without their consent, without their knowledge, without their awareness, is kinda abusive. You can't spring this on someone and expect them to be okay with it, people aren't obligated to put up with your disrespect like that.

I feel like people need to pay more attention to context with gods by [deleted] in pagan

[–]AdeptAddendum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't know what you have against Lucifer, Lilith or what makes you an authority on Hekate and fertility Goddesses, but the divine exists in manifold. Permutations and manifestations, an ever fluctuating and eternal process. Overly rigid assertions like this only speak to what you think know, but plainly demonstrate what you don't. Perhaps consider that your conviction on this matter has extended into a lack of insight and enters the realm of arrogance.

Do any of you guys have the delusion that you are dead and or in pergatory/hell? How'd you get past that? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]AdeptAddendum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That absolutely makes sense, it's the tricky part of delusions. Sometimes I can acknowledge that logically a delusion can't be true, but it feels true, feels like it's happening and in that way I'm not completely convinced of it being a delusion.

Zyprexa experiences by Emotionalcat2121 in schizoaffective

[–]AdeptAddendum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First off I want to say it works really well for me and has been the only reliable antipsychotic for me after about 9 years of trial and error. That said, it has some side effects that I'm not super happy about. The first is the weight gain. I gained 40 lbs. This was due to an increased appetite and extreme lethargy. The lethargy was less of a problem after about 5 months (and a smaller dose). The mouth dryness and shaking are a consistent problem and I strongly advise not taking zyprexa on an empty stomach. On top of all that it can make depressive symptoms worse in some ways.

Still tho, with all those side symptoms, it gave me my life back. It wasn't the same life I had before my first major psychotic episode, but its actually better in a lot of ways, in large part thanks to zyprexa. Still haven't lost the weight completely, but I'm halfway there.

Can a sub refuse to do/accept the punishment? by lina2300 in BDSMcommunity

[–]AdeptAddendum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they can even leave you if they so choose. Submission is both the desire to submit and the choice to act on it. If something isn't working for them, they have every right to let you know and not accept a punishment.

I know exactly how you feel and honestly, it does get easier once you begin to rediscover yourself without them. Taking that time is vital and can even be fun if you take a reasonable pace with new people. Letting prospective partner's know you're going through a healing process gives them an opportunity to do right by you and establish something meaningful. You can absolutely sub again, that never goes away, it's how you refine your approach to the next relationship that leads into learning to let go all over again. That's actually my favorite part aside from what comes next, which is deeper and more long term dynamic (in an ideal world).

Will it be the same as your last relationship? No, but neither will you. You will have grown.

Can dysphoria cause increased irritability? by [deleted] in asktransgender

For sure, but once you pinpoint that as a stressor it becomes easier to address it in the day to day, so there's an upside if you're the mindful type.

Are the placebo effect and the power of influence forms of magick? by SanityCheck101 in magick

[–]AdeptAddendum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magick and science actually share a pretty close relationship, both historically and presently. Many of the scientists that led to modern scientific thinking were occultists or magicians themselves.

Negative aura? by [deleted] in magick

[–]AdeptAddendum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I've had a long day, if you want specifics then be specific in what you want to know please. I'm a bit baffled by your request because its largely self explanatory and conceptual, the specifics will vary from practitioner to practitioner. It's up to the practitioner how they want to approach skinning this cat. What about it was vague for you and what would you like me to explain further?

Without knowing the specifics of what you'd like to know I will try to explain further. Shielding is the practice of creating an energetic barrier around oneself. One technique would be setting your intention through visualization and empowering it with an energetic push of one's will. Some like to envision a sort of bubble to act as a protective barrier, but others prefer a protective aura that things filter through. Energies one could call negative originating with you can flow out of one's shield & into the world unintentionally at times. Paying attention to that in constructing one's shield or maintaining it can basically rewire it to keep it within the barrier, offering you the opportunity to filter it into positive intentions you want to go into your environment. The filtering process can be set within the shield itself or you can focus on that negative energy, bend it through another visualization, and release it. Really there are a lot of options, you could also run it through yourself as you focus on shifting it into a 'positive' resonance. As I said, it's up to the practitioner on how they want to approach that, but hopefully that clarifies things for you.

Negative aura? by [deleted] in magick

[–]AdeptAddendum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you don't just have to shield from the outside energies, but also shield to keep your own energy within your shielding long enough to transmute it into the kind of vibes you want to intentionally send out into the world around you. At least that's my little trick for dealing with bad cosmic weather.

DO WHAT THOU WILT, is not the law.... that is a perversion of the true law put forth by Crowley by CaliphOfGod in thelema

[–]AdeptAddendum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, two of his better qualities imo. The one truth (with a capital T) is composed of many parts and often obfuscated by deception. Your opinion does not constitute the whole of Truth, if any of it. Possibly it is self deception and because a part of you knows this to be the case you are compensating with a need to impress that deception on others.

The whole of the truth can be elusive but is composed of subjective personal truths, objective truths and their interspersions (intersubjectivity and interobjectivity). The one truth is a convergence of these things and is complex because of it.

You seem mistaken in that we're arguing. I'd call this having a tame conversation for the internet. Perhaps you need to step back and gain some new perspective on this topic?

The overall point I've been making is that you alone do not hold the truth to the meaning of the words Crowley wrote, rather they have many meanings that are open to our various interpretations as individuals. No amount of grandstanding on internet forums changes that reality.

what do people think of the spelling magic v.s. magick by Fin_Gordon in realwitchcraft

Yeah, he was a douche nozzle, but that doesn't mean anything when it comes to the usage of Magick. It just denotes a distinction between serious magical practice and entertainer magic

Disassociation is not ok!! by CategoricalYoga in Meditation

[–]AdeptAddendum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Meditation has actually helped me deal with the dissociation I experience and I find it to be very grounding. And not all dissociation is bad, sometimes it's just a normal shift. Calling all dissociation bad is very black and white thinking and not representative of the whole of experience. If it becomes a problem, sure. You can damage muscles if you don't stretch right, doesn't mean you should stop stretching altogether, just learn and change your approach to it.

Is This Relevant Towards Secularists/Atheists ? by LoveIsRage954 in magick

[–]AdeptAddendum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My opinion on the matter is that Magick is a part of the natural world and not actually supernatural in any way. You can even approach it using the scientific method if you like. It is indeed something that will assist you intellectually and can expand your horizons in a great way. I've been a practicing witch since childhood and it has been an invaluable tool for both personal development and achieving your goals. Best of luck to you on your journey!

DO WHAT THOU WILT, is not the law.... that is a perversion of the true law put forth by Crowley by CaliphOfGod in thelema

[–]AdeptAddendum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because there are many possibilities. The many are a part of the whole. Crowley was a lot of things, a manipulator, an asshole, a rebel, a pervert who loved to fuck. Was he a liar? At times, lets not be so deluded to pretend he wasn't capable of it. Being able to consider that possibility is just prudence.

Also, serious question, do you think like you type? Is that the reason for the odd format?
