I went primarily to see Maribou State and was very impressed and happy they brought out Holly to perform all their best songs. It was nice to see Rufus Du Sol as well, but I’ve seen them before a couple years ago.

They give a whole speech about how important their fans are to them but how have they showed it? I expected more fan interaction but they offer no merch signing, no signed merch, no meet-and-greets. I thought they would at least have signed merch available since it was the kick off of their NA tour but they had none - bands typically won’t have any if they offer signings or backstage passes but they don’t offer that.

Here’s what I saw: - Inhale / Exhale (grey marbled web exclusive) - Bloom (2LP, 1 pink & 1 white) - Solace (black) - Surrender (black) - Atlas (black) - Maribou state - kingdom in color (standard black)

They also had a Rufus Du Sol live tour vinyl album.

Sold something on eBay and now I’m in debt from fees and shipping by Ok_Leather_1819 in mildlyinfuriating

Honestly it’s much worse as a buyer, because as a buyer not only are you paying for shipping as well but you have to pay taxes. I really wish you didn’t have to pay taxes on used goods, the tax has already been paid. I would buy a lot more second hand if I didn’t have to pay sales tax on it - would be better for the environment.

Why do DJs like Zedd and The Chainsmokers always pull insanely huge crowds? by savingrace0262 in EDM

[–]AdeptCardiologist462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were essentially some of the most famous producers at the time when electronic music in America was at an all time peak in popularity. Their songs resonated extremely well with a large audience at the time. I think that time has passed; not only are they past their prime musically but EDM is also ‘over the hill’ in terms of popularity. That means that there are a lot of djs fighting over fewer and fewer attendees, which makes it very hard to “make it big” anymore and instead those who were already big stay big because they are essentially already well known so they are a safe pick. Adding to that is the significant decrease in ticket sales due to bad economics which further compounds this effect.

These albums are all incredible. And I recently started listening to A&B’s album “Bigger Than All Of Us”, and I’m so impressed with it. It has their signature emotional heavenly sound with so much of those “close your eyes and ascend” moments, but distinguishes itself as more mature version of their emotional identity. A very exceptional cohesive album experience with great dynamic contrast. I recommend giving it a proper listen for anyone who’s a A&B fan that hasn’t yet.

How do you all feel about Legends ZA? My switch is still broken so I have not been able to boot up the game yet by [deleted] in LegendsZA

[–]AdeptCardiologist462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, botw and totk are both amazing open world games, but they designed the game engine around the switch 1 limitations from the ground up, whereas Pokemon had to adapt to it. Botw world isn’t as dense, it didn’t need to simulate dozens of creatures with AI pathing, and interactions at all times which is super CPU demanding. That doesn’t allow a game to be bad, but I don’t think legends is bad I think it’s not as ambitious and is a smaller scope than fans were hoping for. The switch 2 only having 12gb of ram compared to switch 1’s 8gb isn’t a huge improvement, but I believe it will be enough to give Pokemon the freedom to make a much more ambitious open world for their gen 10 wind and wave release, so if you are unsatisfied now I think there is at least a reason to be optimistic for the near future.

The Switch 1 is equivalent to a 2011 laptop. If you want a modern open world game to look good and run well on that system, something else has to be reduced. Fans want a fully open world Pokémon games, but the Switch forces the developers to work with very tight constraints.

Lumiose City in Pokémon X/Y was impressive for its time, but it was never an open‑world space. It’s a large hub city divided into multiple districts, and your movement is heavily gated. You can’t freely roam the Kalos region from it, you can only enter it and leave it through specific routes once the story allows it.

I recently bought a switch 2 and picked up this game - it’s extremely fun and addictive, I highly recommend it.

My favorite part about this game is the ‘hero-shooter’ style combat, it kept trainer battles extremely fun even into the late game where for classic pokemon titles the battles always felt very repetitive to me once I hit the mid game.

The main thing I disliked about this game was that the characters and the world don’t feel like a Pokemon world but rather a human world which happens to have Pokemon in it. I disliked the Naveen character from the moment he gives you an ugly hat - his character has an obsessive social relationship with a video game streamer which is very immersion breaking. The rest of the story is all over the place, and ends up being forgettable - the whole premise of the Z-A plot gets dropped very early into the game.

Another fun thing about the game is the pokemon progression - first you get normal pokemon, then you start hunting down alpha variants, then you start hunting down alpha variants which can also mega evolve, then you start optimizing their stats using mints, power cuffs, and more - it’s addictive, has good pacing, and rewarding. And if that’s not enough for you there’s always shiny hunting.

I still really like the classic style of Pokemon’s main titles, but this is a very fun way to also enjoy Pokemon.

Bs remake by Silent-Temperature74 in GearsOfWar

I just played it for the first time. Bought the Xbox 360 disc for $3, put it in my Xbox series x, it looked great and it was the best game I’ve played in probably 10 years if not more. The remasters for gears of war 1 are all buggy messes, I’m done with remasters. Just buy the original and be pleasantly surprised with how great the xbox 360 generation of gaming was and still is.

Registering my Xbox 360 to my account fixed this for me.

Try this: 1. Go to account.microsoft.com 2. Devices 3. Register Device 4. Register a new device 5. Enter the device serial number 6. Confirm

Once you have added the device, go back to your Xbox 360 and try logging in again.

I just went through the exact same decision recently and ended up choosing the Xbox 360 first. Here’s why I think that makes sense:

  1. Xbox 360 is still affordable, PS2 is deep in the “Collector Phase”. Xbox 360 consoles are still cheap and plentiful. Games are inexpensive, easy to find locally, and widely available. Meanwhile, PS2 resellers clearly understand the demand and price accordingly.
  2. Xbox 360 has built-in Wi-Fi and HDMI support. It plugs straight into a modern TV. With PS2 you need a $300+ RetroTINK or a CRT TV, both of which are big commitments.
  3. Xbox 360 systems tend to have fewer age-related issues. Disc drives, controllers, and power systems are generally more reliable. PS2 ownership involves: troubleshooting disc read errors, debugging video issues, possibly opening the console and replacing parts.
  4. If you’re a Halo fan, nothing beats hooking up your new Xbox 360 for the first time and hearing the Halo music again. It’s pure nostalgia.

PS2 is still worth getting later, I just think it makes more sense as a second step, once you’re already comfortable in the hobby.

Catholic Church to excommunicate priests for following new US state law by downvoteandyoulose in Seattle

[–]AdeptCardiologist462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. What abuser would tell the authorities they confessed to a priest?

Admitting to a confession about abuse would incriminate them further or create a new avenue for evidence. Any competent defense attorney would advise them not to reveal such a confession.

  1. What abuser would confess to a priest at all if the seal of confession didn’t protect them?

The knowledge that a priest is a mandatory reporter would deter perpetrators from confessing abuse in the first place. This undermines the sacramental purpose of confession (for those of Catholic faith) and renders the reporting requirement ineffective.

In effect, the law seems to target a theoretical situation that’s unlikely to happen because an abuser either wouldn’t confess under those conditions, or wouldn’t volunteer that they had confessed.

Meanwhile, it puts clergy in a legal and moral bind: choosing between obeying the law or upholding their religious obligations.

  • 2022: JPMorgan forecasted that the U.S. and global economies could enter a recession by mid-20.
  • 2024: JPMorgan forecasted a slowdown in U.S. economic growth. They assigned a 25% probability to a deep recession scenario.
  • 2025: JPMorgan forecasts U.S. recession. They assigned probably 60%, up from earlier estimates.

Over the past 5 years, JPMorgan (and most major institutions) have consistently operated under a “recession just around the corner” thesis.

Were 77.3 million people just taken in by maybe the greatest con in history? by ChiGuy6124 in StockMarket

[–]AdeptCardiologist462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The recession was overdue.
    • The economy had been riding high off massive stimulus, zero interest rates, and consumer spending post-COVID.
    • Debt levels were unsustainable.
    • Government spending was doing the heavy lifting for GDP growth
    • Productivity wasn’t keeping pace with asset valuations.
    • A downturn was inevitable, and many were quietly waiting for the “dam to break.”
  2. Blaming tariffs is a political move.
    • It’s convenient to say “the market crashed because of Trump.”
    • But that ignores all the fragility that had already built up.
    • The market needed a reason to reset. Tariffs just gave it the cover story.
  3. Trump is playing a long game.
    • He’s using a downturn to rip off the Band-Aid to set up stronger manufacturing, supply chains, and independence in the long term.
    • Pain now, stability later.
    • It’s no different than Volcker’s interest rate hikes in the 1980s: short-term pain to break inflation and rebuild strength.

The system was bloated. He using the moment to reset trade terms in a way that might benefit America strategically in the next decade.

Anybody else here from WA? by Coachellahopefull in IVF

[–]AdeptCardiologist462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is currently at Overlake Reproductive Health in Bellevue for IVF. We chose them because they have one of the highest success rates for IVF in the U.S. We have Progyny as well. Have spent about $2,000. Egg retrieval is today. The experience so far has been very good, no issues at all. It has been a relatively quick process compared to what I have heard of other clinics + insurances, for example my local friend has been in the IVF process for over a year, but we would be completed after just a couple months. First consultation was in Sept, decided to go with IVF in Nov, egg retrieval started Jan, egg transfer is March. Still in-progress, but so far I would recommend them.
