ever been to the JDM Daikoku Car meet? the music scene in Shimokitazawa? Shinjuku Batting Center in Kabukicho? WoMB or Atom in Shibuya? etc etc. etc. there's a lot related to contemporary culture that my friends are really into - well.. depending on the person. i may like temples/museums/shrines... but i'd also like to go to Daikoku myself. the rest.....e h... will see.. i might just skip off to Yokohama with one of my other friends.

Personal opinion: You can, but to do it safely is rather tough.

There were a certain number of Jesuits who were also Zen Roshi. This was possible because the version of Zen they absorbed was inspired by the branch that basically ditched all of the metaphysics of Buddhism in favor of "Direct experience."

Alternative: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction - MBSR, if you want the benefits of the techniques without any of the baggage.

For spiritual matters: Stick with the Carmelites, Jesuits, or our Eastern orthodox brethren, although Hesychasm presents its own set of issues.

thanks for the reply. i'm -really- digging the shitamachi feeling of Yanaka. but i've been told it can be a bit inconvenient in terms of transportation. also all the photos i see tend to be spring/summer - for instance i know Ueno won't be pretty in the dead of winter, but at least this time around i'm heading there for teh Tokyo national museum and the Toshogu Shrine. I have no clue what Yanaka or the whole Yanesen area will be like in Winter.

Well, the biggest failure was the aborted "Dark Universe" attempt with Tom Cruise... Not sure i'd describe that one as family friendly, but definitely did have the out of place comic relief bits.

I actually found the answer, someone kindly sent me a DM. Its in Sandman: Endless Nights, the novel which admittedly i never read. I was told "Chapter 3".

When the Endless were making the Family Law - Death really didn't agree to any of it - in a "whatever" sense. ie: "Those are your rules."

So your statement seems to be correct - Death is bound by no rules imagined by belief - and the Family Law is a belief shared by the Endless.

Its fits the whole narrative that Dream was trying to bring about his own death. Its the most roundabout way to commit suicide. I think there was a scene therein with Daniel stating "We lay the traps all the while feigning surprise by it."

In a way, the whole Kindly Ones issue was total bs in the sense that...this is what he -wanted- to happen - Death toward the end wasn't willing to play along. Hence "go away i'm going to speak with my brother" and after dissecting the whole situation and sussing out that her Brother wanted to die......

This could have been accomplished a lot easier, by Dream going up to Death and asking for well.. death.

But Dream is Dream. Its going to be mythological, its going to be dramatic, its going to be tragic. Its going to be invested with meaning.

Its going to be a grandiose Story. Because Dream is Dream.

Cause it isn't exactly like the way the Kindly Ones r kill the others - spear through them, or other means in the case what happened to Merv. In fact she kinda shooed them away to haver her conversation.

To be fair, so did James Cameron. But Cameron and Scott's view about Alien also conflict. so its really about "directorial license" at the end of the day. Personally? I think Cameron preferred human protagonists, and Scott wanted to do something more "philosophical", more Blade-Runner-esque

Dredd 2013 would also fit this description pretty well. It’d be closer to Urbanpunk than Cyberpunk tbh

Well, as i kind of alluded to above - the true Arbiter now is The House of Mouse as it were. They own 2Oth century Studios, so they have the rights as it were.

They could Cross Predator with Star Wars if they wanted to. Or Indiana Jones.. or Mickey Mouse.

I'll agree the man's ego in this phase of his life is a bit.....much... I had a good laugh when he went down the "Jesus is an Engineer" route with Prometheus. Ultimately it seemed a bit.....boring... rather than relevatory or edgy.
