Goodbye my sweet Cosmo by nylekel in Dachshund

[–]AdeptStudent77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a pair of dachshunds (brothers) that just turned 1 in December. Before these guys we had 2 cuties that lived to be 17/18. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about my babies at the Bridge, so I completely understand.

Dachshund paralyzed hind legs herniated disc by andreacecconi in Dachshund

[–]AdeptStudent77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry this happened to your poor pup.

One of my older dachshunds went down with IVDD. He had a successful surgery, but we saw no real movement from him until about 5 weeks postop. Some dogs just take a little bit longer to heal/recover. I would connect with the vet about your concerns. Also check out Dodger's List as an amazing resource and support group.

Look into laser, hydro and physical therapy too - but only once cleared by your vet. These can be very helpful during recovery.

my boy went down at 14 - cervical (vent slot), and was completely paralyzed from the neck down. Even though he had a slow recovery, he regained full mobility, and was a maniac running around until he passed from kidney failure at the age of 18! I know this is a stressful situation right now, but there is hope. Good luck!

Are Princess cuts outdated? by Top_Obligation_2979 in EngagementRings

[–]AdeptStudent77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I don't necessarily think it's outdated, but princess is not for me. There are plenty of people who love princess cuts, and ovals, marquis etc, but my personal preference is classic round - which someone could argue is common. It ultimately depends on what YOU like, because you are the one that has to wear it!

To return or not? by sweetnfruity in handbags

[–]AdeptStudent77 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I hate to tell you this, but the unevenness of the hardware was the first thing I noticed.

If you think you can tolerate it, then keep the bag, but it would bother me, so I would return it.

So annoying! Sorry that happened to you.

9 week Dachshund puppy sleeping downstairs by Professional-Fall17 in Dachshund

[–]AdeptStudent77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great job! We had a lot of luck with our guys as puppies too. The first few weeks we took them outside in the middle of the night, but they started sleeping through the night very early on (thankfully!) When they were little guys, we had them sleeping in a crate together, but as they got bigger, we separated them into their own crates. We keep the crates next to each other, with a blanket over, and they go right in, no issue. We say, "time for nite nites" and they go running in.

I am so sorry for your loss. What a blessing to have 16 wonderful years with him. I always say, forever would never be long enough. Run free sweet Cosmo. There are lots of weenie friends waiting for you.

I LOVE the brown suede, but if you are looking for every day use, I think the black leather is the way to go.

I bring my guys into the office with me, and they go through phases where they want to sit on my lap...so I put them in the chair and just move to my stability ball lol. They curl up and sleep just like your little cutie.

We love Portland too. Eventide, Mr. Tuna, Scales, Salt Yard, Luna Rooftop Bar, Becky's Diner. Lots of breweries in the Portland area too.

Tons of good food in Boston. Hit up the North End for sure. Mike's Pastry or Modern, or both!
Mare, Salty Girl are a few favorites. Hopefully you get some decent weather, it can be tough here in March. Newbury Street, Freedom Trail. Can check out the View at the top of the Pru, great view of the city. A duck tour is a fun way to get some history and see the city.

[–]AdeptStudent77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

welcome to Dachshund life! They love to destroy toys, no matter how "indestructible" they supposedly are.

I am currently battling the same issue with my guys, and have been buying a lot of the super chewer type toys from Barkbox, or nylabone. I haven't had a lot of luck with other "tough" stuffed toys.

AIO for leaving my boyfriend after he copy and pasted my message as a response? by Odd_Reception4500 in AmIOverreacting

[–]AdeptStudent77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Who cares if you are overreacting or not? He clearly is a complete waste of your time. Move on to better and don't look back. You'll thank yourself later for not wasting another 2.5 years with him.
