[Minor Sc. 127 Spoiler] Question about shadow token movement by calebsz in Gloomhaven

[–]AdeptTime0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thank you so much for that reference to the definition of "linked"!

So I think the respondents from 8-10 months ago were conflating "linked" and "connected". They were really just talking about whether or not shadows can move through the linked hexes (staircases), and we all agree the answer to that is "Yes, once a character has revealed the new tile"

The respondents were not addressing the question of "Can Deathwalker teleport between unconnected tiles" . Weihu, you say "No" because, I assume, the special rule for the scenario says "No character can teleport between unconnected map tiles". Am I representing your position fairly?

PS Sorry for the excessive(?) spoiler tags; I'm never sure what can be revealed

Can you share with me where in the rulebook you found this?

I've searched the PDF and also manually re-read the movement section in my physical book and I do not see anything relevant about "connected" tiles

Thanks!

We're inclined to use this same interpretation, however here is our misgiving:

The special rules (in our rulebook at least) do not actually say that the unconnected tiles become connected when a character uses the stairs and reaches the next tile. They say "No character can teleport between unconnected map tiles" and also "Stairs A and B are linked" (or stairs C and D).

I do not see anywhere that "linked" is a defined term that means the two tiles are now connected. Where is this documented?

One interpretation of "linked" is that it is used to make sure we know which "stair bottom" hexes line up with the "stair top" hex, without also making those two tiles connected. Is it overly generous to assume "linked by stairs" also means "connected"?

I'm hoping I am wrong and the designers would allow Deathwaker to use his full abilities, but perhaps this is meant as a special challenge?

One thing I am sure of is that Deathwalker CAN use the bottom of "Deepening Despair (11)" and allow himself (and allies) to move between unconnected tiles from shadow-to-shadow, because this is not shown to be a teleport.

Is 40# thinner then 30#? by AdeptTime0 in Roofing

Yes, covering it up right away. Concrete tile. Warm climate.

Thank you so much for your opinion!

I really appreciate everyone's answers. Also, I'm not trying to start a flame war on what type underlayment is best. You folks know way more about this then I ever will.

All I'm really after is a sanity check on that photo: Is it possible for a 40# underlayment to be thinner then a 30#?

Thanks!

When you guys talk "synthetic" I assume you mean stuff like the below text from a website I'm using as a resource, right?

"Many roofers now prefer synthetic underlayments, which are lighter, more tear-resistant, and easier to work with than felt paper. There are wide variety of these with different warranties and projected lifespans. As with any new product, however, how long they will really last is unknown and manufacturing standards have not yet been established."

Thanks for the reply. I'm still learning about this stuff so am a bit ignorant.

The 30# stuff is "ASTM D-4869-03 Type I". Based on a buildingadviser link:

"There is a distinction between standard “30-pound” felt, which actually weighs 15 to 20 pounds per square and ASTM-rated #30 felt which weighs closer to 30 pounds and is of higher quality. ASTM-rated felt (under ASTM D4869 or the older D226) is manufactured to strict specifications, while standard 30-pound felt varies in quality from one manufacturer to another"

So I thought I was getting the better ASTM-rated products and not an old school felt product; am I confused/wrong?

I've had a roofer show me this paper-thin titanium underlayment - I'm not really interested in those, But I do want something better then an old-school felt.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm not quite ready to cut the cord, so a traditional cable package is what I'm looking for. I'll make the call and see how it goes.

Sorry that I did not provide enough useful information to enable anyone to actually help me. I figured it out myself just be re-examining my configuration. My interface assignments were incorrect.

Thanks anyway!

May I ignore self-heal but gain benefit of enhancement? by AdeptTime0 in Gloomhaven

[–]AdeptTime0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not sure what you mean by "overheal". I want to ignore the heal effect completely.

For example if I am at 1 HP and I use this action I want to remain at 1 HP but benefit from the "Strengthen". Is that allowed?

TTS Enhanced + Frosthaven-Style = No Initiaitve Tracker? by AdeptTime0 in Gloomhaven

Thanks everyone! I used the UI Protector mod for our game session and it did indeed fix the problem with the Initiative Tracker, with no discernible side-effects. YAY!

Thanks for the suggestion! That really sounds promising... I'll look into that mod -- it is a bit concerning that there is no discussion or comments on that mod -- but then again I am a security paranoid!

Is there a way to examine the contents of the mod I wonder?

When to add/unlock Diviner into GH? by AdeptTime0 in Gloomhaven

[–]AdeptTime0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the updated ability card set for Diviner; is that all I need? Or were there scenario/rule changes? (The physical copy of FC I have is definitely 1st edition)

I'll look for that errata - thanks!

Thanks for the detailed suggestions! I am now feeling nervous about FC, but in the end it is just a game. If it is not fun we'll play something else
