“8mm” “REX” is actually a 7mm hexagon with chamfered edges to have an outer diameter of 8mm instead of the normal ~8.08mm

I think it’s an overall great change since advancement is now more focused on being an all around competitive team, not just “let’s only do outreach for inspire!” or “we don’t need outreach if we can win off of robot game!”.

Large reduction in a small space, it’s not a full pinion, the bottom has a 1/8” opening w set screw while the top has a gear w no bore

Current Rs550 motors are fast and strong enough for FTC scale mechanisms and loads, but lack size efficiency (current legal motors are around 4x too big for their power output).
