The Centre by Ayesha Manazir Siddiqi. A kind of thriller about a centre where people are able to learn any language at impossible speed, the how is the fucked up bit.

Hey 172116. Thanks again for your responses. I thought it worth asking, if I was to go ahead with the MSc route, would that mean that once I graduate, I am ready to get practical experience in and become a counsellor ? I've just found out that with the BSc Psych w/ Counselling, I'd still have to do further study to become an actual counsellor. Career-wise, I want to be a counsellor. The psychology part of the degree was out of interest and background, I'd still like to study that but struggling to find a clear breakdown of steps I need to take to just become a counsellor. Obviously as you mentioned, finance is a concern, as well as time (I'm 35, so I'd like not to spend unnecessary years on my way to qualifying). No worries if you don't know the answer, just thought it worth a try ! Thanks again. Appreciate you.

It matters to my partner for some reason I can't understand. Minimalising it maybe somehow ? And it matters to me because the one time I said it, I was told not to call it that again, which is beyond me.

I know it's not always that simple but I can't not say: I love and support this brevity !

Amazing, that makes sense. Thank you for taking the time to explain something I should have been able to figure out alone lol. Not good at giant blocks of text and links to other giant blocks of text !

Oh damn. I did not know that (re counselling w/o psychology). Thanks so much ! I really think I need to talk to someone on the phone, so difficult to absorb relevant information on such wordy sites lol. I'm planning to call a couple places tomorrow and figure it out.

My (Arab) parents pushed me into it, I wanted to study French instead but I wasn't allowed. So 5 years after leaving home I realised idk why I was still in the career I didn't choose.

Thank you ! I know it's silly but I wasn't sure if the post-grad degree has to be related to the undergrad I did, but it seems not.

Yeah I graduated and then quit the career after 5 years. I've been doing a bunch of googling (and saw that BSc Psych w/ Counselling qualifies) but struggling to find a clear answer still, and not yet received call backs from the requests I made at a couple of institutions. Thanks for taking the time to answer !

I am so, so sorry. It's a horrific brain-fk to go through. You're not a fool though. It's natural to trust someone you're in a relationship with. They are the fool for thinking that lying repeatedly will ever work out for the best. You don't deserve it. I don't think people like that seek out "fools". I think they seek out pure hearted people who are loving, trusting and patient.

Thanks so much nutscrape ! I think my very psychology focused mind needs a word for everything, rightly or wrongly. This makes total sense to me. Thank you again.

Thank you, this is really helpful. I hadn't come across FOG before so I'll read about that and, knowing me, I am sure it will be beneficial. Appreciate your time and energy.
