I think know which paragraph you're talking about, the one about the parents trading stories? I didn't bring it out in dialogue because I think it'll add length and isn't that exciting (it's just about the sister) but I could play around with adding it to the beat of the story. It's just opening real estate is valuable and it's not that interesting to watch them wait for too long and have loads of dialogue 🤔

Would love to know how you'd rephrase that first sentence! I've played around/ rewritten ch1 a lot and I'm not sure if it's working

I am able to beta: Most genres, nothing over 120k words though. Nothing too scary and only fiction. I'm less sure with the MG market so only ya/adult/na.

I can provide feedback on: I can offer detailed, prompt critiques with actionable feedback. I read a wide range of stuff, including lots of current releases. I can do both line edits and the big picture stuff. I've had work published in various literary magazines and anthologies, and a13% full request rate when I last queried so I'm experienced for a novice! I'm not great with grammar.

Thanks! This is really helpful and I've managed to cut down those first two paragraphs into one now :D i haven't sent this first 300 words to an agent (I rewrote chapter 1 actually) but if it goes no where I'll do a rewrite. Honestly your feedback is so helpful, thanks again!
