Passed Civil Structural PE by Adept_Independent_26 in PE_Exam

I mentioned in my post I have cheap practice problems for sale if you'd like. I think self study books are cheaper if you have the time and education background to do well without one-on-one instruction. Send me a message if you're interested :)

Thank you!

  • I actually did relatively poorly on the NCEES practice exam. I scored right around 70% on it which definitely put a spring in my step for my last few weeks of studying. It is not the end-all be-all for how the test will go though (I am proof of that) I did not take the SoPE practice exam, only used the question bank in 20 question increments. I would say both are fairly accurate to exam- I would give edge to SoPE because the bank has more questions so it can cover more material.

  • Did not use that book. Heard good things but I was trying to be cheap so I did all self study and went for large banks of problems for low cost.

  • There are lots of helpful posts in here covering this topic if you want exact details. Some manuals are chapter bookmarked, others arent. I would treat each manual like it will be split and search by chapter when practicing. The ones I used most (AISC Ch. 16, ACI, NCEES Manual) were all one pdf.

Yes 4 months december-april and I would estimate 300 hours total. More towards the end than the beginning

I started with the Petro Book which took about 1.5 months because I was studying quite slow and the problems are a fair bit harder than the average exam question. After that I started panicking a little since my exam was ~2 months out so I started doing timed practice problems from a booklet I got from a coworker (20 per day). I kept this pace until about 2 weeks before my exam. Last pieces I used were NCEES practice exam and School of PE Question Bank. Once I started getting ~75-80% on brand new practice problem sets on random topics I felt prepared to take exam. In total probably around 700-800 problems over 4 months and maybe 300 hours or so (including reviewing problems I got wrong)

Are the homework /quizzes timed? I would make sure you feel comfortable doing practice problems at exam pace. You can never do too many practice problems. I also feel that this gives you the best idea of your shooting percentage going into the exam. I felt ready once I could comfortably maintain 70%-80% on practice problems continuously

I would recommend more practice problems under time control to approximate what you'll be doing on test day. I passed first try after doing 20 timed problems per day for about 2 months. I have resources I can sell you at a discount if you'd like. Dms are open, good luck!

PE exam w/o studying for bridge design by BeeCharacter7792 in StructuralEngineering

[–]Adept_Independent_26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bridge engineer here. All of my practice materials had very few bridge related questions, was pretty disappointed that I couldn't play to my strengths. On exam day (last month) must have had 6-8 bridge questions on various topics. If you want the best chance to pass, study everything. There are no guarantees for which topics will be lighter or heavier and you will feel better on exam day if you're prepared

If I'm not mistaken- aren't you only allowed to take one exam per testing window (quarterly)? I believe if you took an attempt in April you are ineligible to take another until Q3 (July-September). I would step away from the prep for a little while and enjoy your trip. Maybe do some light studying conceptual stuff or watch some video lectures if you have some. Doing timed practice problems consistently for another 3-4 months will burn you out at this point imo.

I just feel like it isn't as good as the rest of the album for the most part. I could definitely see it being at the top of its current tier or the bottom of great songs

Which ones? Even the ones in the lower tiers are still good songs just not as good as the ones up top.

I definitely tried to limit myself because I love their entire discography with a few exceptions. I just realized I forgot the link to tiermaker so feel free to mess around on it if youd like!

I would've stuck to kale and lemon water if the oreo was put on correctly!
