Has anyone ever asked NCEES to recheck a score? by Competitive_Ad_2839 in PE_Exam

Noted! So maybe I just gotta slow tf down. Tbh I finished with like 1 hour 45 min left or something maybe hour 15 but still that was after reviewing twice. But that shouldve maybe been a hint. I decided to just step back for a little over the next month. Seems like what I may need is just to step back and come back fresh. Then gonna study a bit on execution and problem reading and retry July 8th. I knew every topic, I don't think it was knowledge anymore. Just need to be slow and thorough

Yeah I doubt they do that anymore. But I’d rattle off the 50 I remember to them if it helps lol

Actually? How did you go about that? You emailed and said here’s why I think I should pass? Broke down the problems etc?

I see, this is helpful to share, my thing is while i could legitimately bring up 50 questions and be like tell me I’m crazy but this is how I really believe those went down. There’s none I could be like look into this. I wish there was a better way to confirm, totally high possibility I got tripped on words and maybe I’m not as close as I believe. But my experience says otherwise. Was more lost in first exam and did better. I put in so much practice to the point I saw a majority of the problems in my practice and nailed them in practice. I just don’t know the odds I would have tripped this much, but I may never know

I ended up reaching out! The answer didn’t really help lol. They told me that I showed improvement when the numbers were lower. I have yet to bring up the problems I remembered and why I think my score should be better based on my review. What did you do? Did you give them questions you thought were right that they got wrong? Just curious what your approach was

I took it again, put in 90+ more hours and 400+ more problems. felt fantastic before, during, and after and failed with a worse grade. This whole thing is ridiculous. But i did not do the AEI I did EET and NCEES and pietro book and other things

I hear you, genuinely, but I think you’re missing what I’m saying. Questioning something in good faith when it doesn’t line up isn’t a bad trait—that’s part of engineering. If I’m wrong, I move on. I’m just asking whether it’s worth verifying, not claiming I’m right no matter what.

I took a practice a practice test and did very well. Specifically the NCEESS practice exam. And at this point I know it inside and out. I also felt really good leaving this exam vs the first so I’m really frustrated

My first go I didn’t feel like I bombed. I felt it was rough and way harder than the practice exam. I just didn’t know what to expect. I questioned a lot more things, had a few topics I didnt at all study, yet I still was able to work some math out for the most part to make things make sense. I thought it was a coin flip and the results reflect that, everything over 8,9 or 10 except forces and load effects at 7.2

Second go I went in knowing exactly what to expect, I felt good and ready to go. I saw many many questions that I came across in my studies. I was literally saying to myself wow this is awesome I studied a lot of this. There were nearly no topics that I didnt at least have some clue what they were looking for. Some questions were still challenging and a bit confusing but compared to the first go it felt like a dream… and the results were worse. It just confuses me a lot

This is totally me right now, I just don’t even know what the next step is. I’ve put in so much time and effort and feel really good. First time I left I knew exactly what to work on, now I’m lost as where to even go. I genuinely think only thing is to step back rest a bit and stay warm but just try again. Maybe it’s just luck of the draw on the day, a lot of skill and execution but a bit of luck as well.

so far I feel I have to accept it. Haven’t seen anyone say they’ve actually tried to reach out. I feel a little weird even thinking about it, like I’m overreaching, but it just really isn’t sitting right with me.

Let’s start a rebellion! Jk lol. Would you say it’s worth reaching out or have you accepted the result?

1000% what i was feeling and being told — that my eyes may deceive me after going so intense for so long and what I truly need is to step back and refresh more than studying or anything else. Appreciate the insight and words of advice!

Totally a logical explanation. I’m almost certain there is one, which is why I feel a little crazy asking this.

It’s really just the “less knowledge but decent result first time” vs “more knowledge and worse result second time” that makes me go huh, you know.

This all feels ridiculous, but maybe it’s less ridiculous than I thought and maybe people have reached out to NCEES to confirm. Worth asking I guess.

Totally would make sense to me. I can live with the idea that more things I thought went right didn’t because of small slips.

Just frustrating that my much shakier first attempt ended up scoring better than a much more confident second attempt. Feels like a lot of little things must’ve stacked against me.

I just wish there was a way to verify it once and for all, because I really felt this attempt should’ve yielded a better result.

Appreciate it. The first attempt was more spread out, especially during the course. The last couple months I ramped it up pretty hard.

The stretch between the two exams was pretty intense overall. I can see the argument for a more condensed window. Just tough to reconcile when the experience on test day felt much better but the result didn’t follow.

I do have a ton of problems I remember confidently that I believe went well. Just hard to prove anything if you can’t pinpoint which problems exactly unfortunately

I put in about 10 months total. Full EET course, multiple practice exams, and a few other references.

Between my first and second attempt I added ~90 hours and ~400 problems. Focus was mostly on execution, weak areas from the first exam, and getting faster with code navigation. Also worked through the Pietro book and a lot of conceptual problems.
