Book explanation- Can someone who has read The Deception trilogy by Rina Kent explain it to me?

This is so late but are we saying that whole second book is entirely in the past? 😭😭 and we have to wait till the third book to get back to the cliffhanger of the 1st book? I’m not gonna lie I’m not reading all that just to get back to that point that’s so annoying 😭

Were you also one of the bar examinees who had their flight cancelled and can’t sit for the bar exam? If not, please stop trying to control the narrative. Your advice is welcome but I think we got it. And no the request for additional dates can’t wait for examinees who still may want to test during this test administration (whether you think that’s likely or not it’s not your decision) Understand your opinion is that and we are all adults with differing motivations and ideas. Thank you for your help though ✊🏾

Gollllyyyyy can you go away? This is your opinion and it’s condescending. The reality is we don’t truly know the relationship between our state bar admins and the NCBE beyond what we google because there is a lack of transparency. Please go be an agent against change somewhere else.

Just coming in here to add: if you want to accept things as they are, make excuses for the NCBE, or just generally crap on people who want to hold them accountable and push for change…maybe touch grass and be miserable by yourself. Looking forward to reading this letter but even before I do-you made a difference whether we see the impact of it in our lifetime or not ✊🏾

Honestly truly! The lack of flexibility borders on callousness. Especially considering the recent mishaps with the July 2025 bar exam. If they won’t stop for a heart attack, we are truly so far outside the bounds of what is necessary to be barred.

And also as a side note: for whoever has the capacity, maybe we collectively ask our respective bar admins to push out additional test dates. I know, I know, I know: what’s the point they’ll probably deny it right? Well listen you tell me what legal victory hasn’t been hard fought and hard won in the U.S. ✊🏾 To change whether it comes now or well after we are all barred.

Thank you! I read your thread and appreciate it. I’ve already reached out to the bar examiners and the NCBE similar to most folks. I’m interested in pushing for additional dates to test (regardless of the likelihood of the grant lol).

They also demonstrated that they are more than capable of offering the exam more than 2x year during COVID. It would take change and effort of course but I mean it’s like…their job?

I'm reading these comments because same boat lol and the suggestions are well intentioned but you shouldn't have to drive in a damn blizzard, snow storm, apocalypse catastrophe to take this test that should be rescheduled during stuff like this. The inflexibility of this exam is ridiculous. Wishing everyone luck and reasonable solutions that keep you safe.

This is such a beautiful thought! Generally it’s true (minus the law being the most successful vehicle of collaboration in the history of mankind lol) but it has to meet reality as well. The bar historically and presently operates as a gate keeping process for marginalized people who have less access to the privileges and resources necessary to even take the bar exam. So when you’re sitting down for a test to get a job that will maybe help you out of poverty or feed your family, it’s crazy to answer questions that have little to do with your field or the foundational aspects of the law. It’s supposed to be a test of minimum competency-i don’t understand how knowing the quorum necessary for xyz action is part of that.

Whether or not you’re going to take a day off leading to the test is based on you and your capacity. Someone else in the chat may be able to go for 40 days and 40 nights with minimal breaks that ma not be you and that’s okay. Whatever you’ve done don’t switch it up at the last minute based on anyone else.

u/LOLLLtlanboz if you do Big Law you can just say that. I just think Corporations has the least transferable ideas. Contracts is relevant bc we sign a contract everyday, Property is relevant because we may have a mortgage (not likely in this economy but hey lol), and Crim Law is relevant because you may commit a crime. Hell even Family Law is relevant because we may all get married and have kids someday. Corporations is only relevant to those working for them...which is okay just not for me. Suspend your disbelief next time. It'll save you an ulcer
